Mine is clean too 2013 car but it's always garaged and mostly driven in the dry. The first thing to corrode on them is the short brake pipes from the caliper to the next connection point behind the arch, if they are clean and original the rest of it should be ok.

I wouldn't be hung up on age if it's been cared for.

Agreed - mine is a 2012 & likewise no corrosion.

I think another yardstick is the condition of the bonnet catch which is an easy tell if rust is around - saves grovelling around on the floor; anyone agree?

  2. So, a quick update.

BCS in Long Eaton came up trumps for us. I decided to take a run up there for a 'while you wait' repair.

To kill time I sauntered done to Trent Lock - a lovely spot where the mighty river Trent meets the Soar.

No sooner than one narrow boat had gone through the lock, I was called to say the repair was done. An excellent service needing a helicoil & they replaced the other nipple as well for £75

So, now it's reassembly time plus flush through some nice 'cheap' Porsche brake fluid & the jobs a good'un.

Thanks for all the helpful advice

Be careful removing the line and prepare to replace it for all it will cost you.

Huge relief when I gently tweaked the brake line connector to the calliper and it smoothly came out - simple job now to get the calliper to BCS for repair when I have a mo.

BTW, what is the consensus for replacing the calliper bolts for new? They seem perfect to me

Suspect OPC mechanics only bled the system from the outer bleed nipple anyway so probably the inner one that sheared had never been loosened off since the day it was installed.

That rings true - it was the inner nipple that sheared on mine as well - 2 years after an OPC brake fluid change

  5. Thanks for all the 'shearing' advice. I'll get the calliper off first then research the best option. The nipple doesn't look rusty but the broken bit has a smear of red paint on it.

So, I suspect it has had a calliper repaint in situ that made extraction difficult.........

  6. Afraid my post winter checks have resulted in a casualty - 7 of the brake bleed nipples are fine, but the 8th isn't. After a firm push on the ring spanner it snapped off at the level of the calliper. I'll try to post as picture but too mad at the moment to work out how to reduce the image size.

The question is, where to go from here.....

  7. Hi all

Not managed to get any yet; hyper silver seems difficult to find.

88Z seems a different story so will try this I think - will let you know re the match!

Thanks for all the helpful replies.

  8. I have some stone chip on my alloys that need sorting. They are silver OE 20" Carrera S that are quite light in colour & despite extensive googling, I'm unable to find out if they are Arctic Silver or Hyper Silver. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated before I contact Porsche.

    Thanks!

  9. So, thanks for the advice - the maintenance booklet unfortunately says 'white'

The link above to the 2013MY says "Pure white" so I assume this is my colour according to my VIN

Confusingly, mine is a 2012 reg vehicle & in this year, Boxsters were Carrara white.

To be completely sure I emailed Porsche GB & got this reply

"We have checked the Porsche database which states that the colour is ‘White’. There is no other wording attached to the colour."

Will get some pure white & see if it matches 🤣

  10. Thats useful to know as I need to touch up a couple of stone chips!! Thanks v much!

I assume there is a plate somewhere on he car that gives a colour code - must have a look & see!
