You should have joined us up in Scotland. I remember one sharp bend where all three of us lost the back end, although, @benjohnstone did the most dramatic excursion with his Exige. I was still laughing when my back end stepped out😬
😆😆😆
I was still laughing up the road,
First hairpin pitiful, must try harder on the 2nd, nearly ended up in a Bush 🤣

No regrets here,
yes it's loud, focused and totally unrefined. but as a drivers car it's in a different league to the boxster. the steering feel is amazing, goes where you point it.
even been an n/a (with some engine work. cams, porting etc) it's far faster than the boxster it's replaced, 840kg weight helps that alot though.
downsides are it's not overly comfy, no heated seats etc. but for a Sunday morning hooning machine I'll manage 😆
Forgot to mention the brakes CL-RC6 pads all round with belled front discs.
from a tiny 2 pot caliper on the fronts and a conventional sliding caliper on the rear, they are phenomenal I've never driven or been in anything that stops quite like it.
slammed on that hard the other day it ejected water out of the washer jets much to my amusement 😆 yet no ABS interference at all.
it's a rather highly modified version of the 190 exige so can't comment on what a standard one would be like.
for anyone interested

First pic is prettier than the second, but do tell after a fortnight are you regretting the decision or is the Exige worth the change? I love my 987.1, but am plagued with roof issues, trying to work out whether a Cayman or something else is the best answer

sold it 🫢
as much as I've enjoyed the boxster ownership I've now moved it on.

I'll still hang around though as I rather enjoy Lukes Dales runs 🤷♂️

When I've considered adding tube headers to my ebay dronebox I thought I'd put some aftermarket 200 cel cats downstream from the manifolds. I think there's space. The stock manifold cats do look very restrictive. Can't find headers with sports cats already in place without spending £££££££.
The other thing I mean to do is get a balance pipe welded between to two sides as they're not connected. I think that will sound better. I don't really want it that much louder.
Generally you only notice intake noise with your foot down.
I've got topgear manifolds with 200cel sports cats they wernt silly money but they don't pass mot anyway so pointless 😆😆

AOS issues
in 987
On 10/5/2021 at 7:59 PM, Kenbo1000 said:Did mine a month ago. The AOS was relatively easy to change (just take your time and have all the gear you will need, YouTube video’s are available) but the plastic pipe that splits into two and goes to the inlet manifold seems to made of toilet paper. If you look at it it cracks and splits, mine broke into two pieces. New one is £65 from Porsche.
I took mine into AHRS to have the PDK fluid changed and a hydraulic leak traced. The leak was a split pipe from the power steering pump, £150 for the part from Porsche! Anyhow as the new AOS breather was in the boot he chucked it on for free. It’s relatively easy to change you just need good finger strength to squeeze the ends to release them.Good luck.
aye that one doesn't look too bad to change to be honest. the one thays split on mine is no.4 on the diagram goes to passenger side cyl head looks a pain to swap 😆

Just fit the spyder ones to mine.
got them from spyder off ebay with a 35quid offer
text size is slightly different but not an issue
overall I'm very happy, they look 1000 times better than my old sticky scabby ones and a breeze to fit 👍

Having some issues with the vent hose off the AOS to the left bank (1-3 passenger side)
the corrugated hose has split and is p*ssing oil all over 😆
might aswell change the AOS and both breather hoses. The long one that's split looks a pain to change can anyone give me any insight on how to go about swapping it?

After finishing the front suspension rebuild took it down to Atec-align in Huddersfield for full 4 wheel hunter alignment. lovely chap and knew his stuff would highly reccomend.
picked up a Carnewal exhaust earlier, a job for tomorrow if I finish work early 🤞

More importantly what does it sound like?
I fancy doing them but the bolt thing puts me off.
sounds a hell of a lot better but the old one was leaking so sounded awful. got quite a bark now and some burble on the overrun. a trip to carnewal is on the cards once travel is allowed.

Any issues getting the old manifolds off?
yeah think the majority of bolts snapped. much swearing by the sounds of it. Good set of lads though got it all sorted 👌
