Thanks sanky, just had a look and two screws missing and the third is incorrect (without the washer bit) which is why it was falling down. 

Hi all, I have piece of foam insert trim under the passenger side dash that keeps falling down, can anyone tell me if I’m missing another bit of (maybe plastic) trim that would hold this in place? 

What length bar did you buy Lenny? 100mm or 150mm?

Good evening everyone. I had an issue with my 986 2.7 2004 today. Drove for about an hour through town and when I got to my destination I couldn’t get in to reverse. After that I couldn’t get it in 1st or 2nd. Got the AA out and he identified a worn gear linkage located near the gear box. He made a temporary repair to the bush which enabled me to get home, but it still won’t engage into reverse. It has an after market short shift fitted. I’ve tried to find the part online but can’t. Can anyone advise what it is exactly called and has had anyone experienced the same issue? 

Does anyone know where I can get various fixings for under the bonnet from?

Thanks Red, very useful information. Noted regarding removing the rubberised surface- clearly it’s all in the prep. For the standard base coat did you use the same colour code as the car (in my case Arctic silver)? 

Good evening everyone, I’m a recent newbie with a 2004 986 in arctic silver with metropole blue Interior. I’m exploring options to spray the centre console silver, and would like to know if anyone has recommendations for what paint to use? Would a standard can of Arctic silver paint suffice, or would i need specific vinyl spray?
