  1. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a heated seat on a cold morning and am spoiled by air conditioning in the summer months, however, I would prefer that my 2003 Boxster had come off the assembly line a bit more raw boned. No frilly electronics (power seats, power window, radio, alarm system, amp, etc.) I would say that only a heater/defroster would be a must have. Also, the power convertible top has me spoiled, but I  could  easily live without that as well. In short, I would like it if the car was a bit more raw. Anybody with me ?

  2. I have never paid the extra money for optional custom or themed license plates. I figure that the state gets enough tax revenue from me already. However, the other day I popped into my local DMV to check out the just released Oregon "Salmon" plates. When I saw them I knew I had to get a set. I could immediately visualize how nice they would look on my seal grey jackrabbit as opposed to the boring, standard issue, basic white plates that currently were on the car. What further cemented my purchase was the number sequence on the next plate out of the box that would be mine upon purchase. I never seem to get a plate number that is easy to memorize. Now I have one that I can remember even when stoned. The wife mused that I now pamper the car more than her. She may be right ......... cheers, tommy z

  3.      I have 3 keys for my car. Only one was fully functioning when I bought it. Recently I started having issues with the fully working key and when I went to the dealership for a windshield replacement, they reprogrammed it for me. That worked for about two weeks. They have since offered a key replacement and programming for $528.00US installed (which they claim is at cost). I seem to be getting along nicely without the convenience of the remote feature. I manually lock the doors and when opening with the key, the only inconvenience I have to deal with is having to insert the key in the ignition and turn to position 1 within 10 seconds to avoid the alarm going off. My questions are: 1) has anyone else been going without the remote feature long term ? and 2) other than convenience is there anything else that I am missing by not having the remote feature ? I would much rather put that $500 toward new shocks, etc. and put the key replacement on the back burner.                 Keep all four on the road ...... tommy z

  4. This past summer I gave myself a "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD." Along with the award came the Grand Prize ........ a 2003 Boxster S. I recently turned 76. When I was 24 and single, I owned a '64 356 C and loved it. Then came marriage, a family and the boring world of practical cars. I ended that nonsense last June. Did I need a Boxster ? No. Was it a practical purchase ? No. Am I too old to be driving a car like this ? Not at all. Do I have regret ? Absolutely not. Do I love this car ? You betcha. Before I made my commitment, I stumbled  upon this site. I wish to point out that this is really not just a website, it's a brotherhood. A brotherhood of aficionados of this wonderful machine. I felt the love of this car and the dedication to it through your texts as I researched what to look for before purchase. Your information was invaluable. So much so, that I never even test drove a Boxster. The first time I drove one was the day I bought the car when I drove it for an overall inspection.  I drove the car home from San Francisco to the Oregon Coast and it was delightful. It continues to delight. This car brings me miles of smiles. I love my little "jackrabbit," the name I gave my car. Thank you all for your past and continued information and suggestions, all based on experience. tommy z
