So should buy a complete door lock assembly. Any makes you would recommend. I have used AUTODOC and Design911 in the past or is the OE part from Porsche sensible money.?
-
Sorry, how do I read the table. What part no should I get. Where would you suggest I source it? Thanks

2001 Boxter S.
Weird behaviour:
1) Window not dropping sometimes after unlocking and opening drivers door. Tends to set properly again when I get in and shut the door. Sometimes stays slightly down when driving.
2) The car sometimes has the red locking warning light on when I start driving, then it clears after a couple of mins.
4) Remote sometimes stops working locking or unlocking, then works again 5 mins later (not remote battery)
5) Sometimes double beep on locking.
Nothing is terminal but it’s so fickle. Any one had the same. What do I need to get and do to fix it. Please help. Thanks

Ok thanks. May be a delay but will feedback the results

3B2 837 016A It is then. This contains the door latch micro switch. So I won’t need to buy this separately? Sorry but I’m trying to wrap my head around this. Have ordered the tools and buttons to do the job as suggested. Problem is I have no garage so ‘car card out’ time needs to be minimal..

I guess if I bought the complete assembly I’d cover all bases. Ridex do one. 1361D0164 at a decent price. I’ve bought their stuff before and it’s ok. AUTODOC do them. £26.11 . Design 911 want £100. I am tempted to buy this lock by doing that I won’t need to mess with any thing else.. right? Does that seem reasonable?

Sorry but I am struggling.. do I need a door lock or door lock micro switch do you think.. please advise.
thanks -
Ok switch it is then..

Today … double beep unlocking, drivers window doesn’t drop or attempt to drop. 20 secs later with the door open and me with the front hood open digging something out of the front compartment.. guess what… the window drops to the right position on its own … what the **** !!
Question?
when a door lock micro switch goes wrong/bad can it give issues intermittently?
Tonight drove back 18 miles windows working as they should plus normal remote and silent double flash .. all good. Tomorrow…. Who knows

Thanks will try these out.

2001 986 S
When the car sleeps after 5 days? Can someone tell me how they open up the car using the key lock and then remote. Avoiding the alarm. I guess I am asking for the Porsche recommended procedure. I use a method that works sometimes and not others
thanks

Great advice / help, thanks. Just come home in the rain after a 30 mile journey. You wouldn’t know there was a problem. Yet earlier on when I started it up after 7 days. It was really playing me up. It’s always like this, windows mess around initially then later on in the trip behave themselves. Guaranteed if I go back to it in a few days it will behave in the same manner… anyway thanks for the detailed help and advice

Also if I do this are there any pegs or bits that are likely to break when taking the door trim off?

You’ve helped me before… thanks
how many of these would I need? Also which ones.

2001 3.2S
Problem window SOMETIMES not dropping on opening, mostly if not always when opening from outside after parking up and locking. Not a problem driving normally, seems to only happen after I’ve locked it and return later say half an hour or days later after it’s gone to sleep. I’ve also noticed occasional beeping on locking, but not always. Reopening and closing doors and boot lids seems to sort.
Any thoughts on what to do and in what order. I know these cars suffer from this a lot. I don’t mind blanket replacing stuff if it’s not crazy money. I love this car but it’s trying to break me mentally!!
Help… Please!!

Problem is there is absolutely no play in the rack. Going to cost an arm an a leg to pull front end apart, so going to have to live with it I suspect. Will post if I ever sort it.

Just spent £250 trying to get local Porsche Indy’s to sort it. They can’t find it either and never met a problem like this before. It can be replicated with the car stationary. Pushing the steering wheel about does it, but steering column good, no play at all and it drives perfectly. Probably just live with it! Don’t hear it when I’m driving enthusiastically. If anyone has ever had anything like this… help!

Just to say that my creaking at the back of my 2001 986 S has gone. I replaced the anti roll link and the suspension arm (used Ridex ex AUTODOC) The first suspension arm was the wrong length (their fault) but got a refund after chat with one of their guys. So that problem solved… I be got another weird one which I will post later…

It was the control arm that was the problem re the rear end rattle.

Creaking rattle noise over bumps. Very slowly it’s got worse over a couple of years, Can stop it by pushing up on the steering wheel. Can get the noise stationary by pushing up and pulling down on the steering wheel. The rack feels ok when driving and it’s just had an mot.
It’s not related to turning the steering wheel. Does it going in a straight line .
Anyone had this?

This rattle comes from the rear passenger side. Low down behind the seat.
Only appears when the car is warmed up and done a few miles, but it’s nothing to do with the engine.Makes a rattling noise over rougher tarmac surfaces at low speeds like on a country road over a moor. On decent roads no noise at all, not even on the occasional bump
Doesn’t do it over smoother bumps.I’ve replaced the “sway bar and bushes” about 2000 miles ago.
Am I looking at a Control Arm problem? Car has 80K miles on the clock.
Any one had this issue. What was it?
Thanks in advance.
