Well that's the air con sorted, regassed today after fitting new condensers/drier/cabin filter last week. Blowing lovely and cold now.
Next step, and minor service, and then the fun of changing some suspension components.

Cleaned the rads out today, and fitted an new pair of a/c condensers and drier, now booked in to have it re-gassed, and see if it works, as it hasn't since i purchased the car. The old condensers had started to disintegrate!

Not sure there's much preventative you can do. It will have worn and it will wear out eventually. If it is creaking and knocking, the only way to solve that is with new parts I'm afraid.
Yep, new parts to go on, front lower control arms, top mounts and drop links. Not having a garage to work in is putting me off in this weather.
So preventative in the sense, of ageing car, continued MOT passes.

Just the MOT today, another clean pass.
Now just need to find time and weather to do some preventative suspension work at the front.

Re-proofed the hood with Fabsil gold before the bad weather really gets here. Looks good, and the water just runs off.

Thanks, I could get a link to work.

There is one on FB market place at the moment, currently up for £750.

Thanks, I don't think I will bother.

As per the title, will they fit without spacers, and will the ride be rubbish?
Anyone on here who has put them?
Thanks.

After fitting the exhaust, I've got the position sorted, I just can't get the bumper back on correctly, the left side looks like it's touching the crash bar on the inside, so won't quite sit where it should. Any hints or tips on this?
Thanks.

New cat pipe fitted, back box fitted, started and checked working ok, all good, sounds good. Went to put the bumper back on, and the tail pipes are to high up, so the bumper now won't fit, started getting dark, so gave up for the evening.
Anyone else had this problem?

The port in question has an M8x1 thread, so finer than the standard 1.25, just got to wait for new bolt to turn up now.
-
It's been fine, I knew it was there, just a bit of an annoying one when you come to change something.
Anyone know what size the small threaded port in the cat pipe, not the larger O2 sensors? Looks like it should be M8, but the thread is a bit tight on the new pipe.

No worries at all. I hope you enjoy the exhaust mate
Trying to, got the old one off, only to find the u bend has been welded on on the left side, and an incorrect cat has been used, so new cat pipe required!

Attended a local car meet, and replaced my wheel nuts, although not at the same time!

I had an eBay special on for about a year and a half. Cost me £150 and it was okay. Droned like a b****d, especially in the beginning but seemed to mellow a bit and got slightly better the more I used the car. The drone never went away and was always there between roughly 2,500 - 3,000 rpm. I sort of learnt to drive around it.
BUT - when you put your foot down it sounded absolutely glorious. I even had a guy in a 2012 Boxster pull up next to me at a traffic light asking me about it. He was amazed when I told him it was an eBay dronemeister
Sanity prevailed and when offered a standard exhaust for £50 I grabbed it. The car now sounds more civilised and the drone is gone but I do sometimes miss the howl it made from 5,000 rpm upwards...
I still have the dronebox in the garage if anyone is interested. You can have it for a donation to Scotty's Little Soldiers. I had my fun out of it.
I've messaged you about the exhaust if it's still available. Thanks.

Thanks, I've had a good search on eBay, that's more like it on price.

Hi,
As per the title, does anyone know the sizes of the rear sleeve clamp, and rear elbow to backbox clamp?
I need to replace them, and the genuine ones are stupid money, so is there a go to for reasonably priced replacements.
Thanks,
Graham.

MOT today, all clear apart from an advisory for a side repeater bulb with slight discoloration, happy first year ownership for me.

Creaks will be the coffin arm bushes where the tuning forks bolt to them. Not a lot you can do the stop them. The only way to a silent ride once you ahve rattles, creaks, squeaks and knocks, and it really is a transformation, is replacement of all arms, links and top mounts.
Quire right, just have other cash commitments at the moment, so will be done ASAP. It has silence the creak for now though.

I might give that a try, getting some creaks. See if I can postpone the inevitable
It's worked until I get around to replacing the arms, as there is no play in the ball joints. Just get some syringes from Amazon for a few quid.
What have YOU done to your 986 today ?
