  1. I "might" be considering selling my deep blue 2005 2.7 987.1 with just over 60,000 miles. Has tan interior which looks very nice. Just had it detailed so the colour looks great in the sun. Also put a very nice Boxster personalised plate on too. Looking for £12500 Inc plate. Pm me if you want pics and more details. Reason for thinking about selling is my circumstances have changed. This was originally a keeper so I spent a fair bit of money since I bought her.

  2. Have you checked your coolant level? If it's low it could struggle to blow any hot air through. Your coolant guage may indicate warmer than normal if its low on coolant too. I had a thermostat housing fail on me once in a previous car (not porsche) and the heater air gradually blew cooler and the guage moved closer to red.

  3. Got my 987.1 back from Redline Porsche after getting the front wheel bearings replaced and a 4 wheel alignment. Noticeably better to drive, less twitchy over uneven/bumpy roads and a lot quieter too. Very impressed with them. Also had a good look around their carrera cup race cars they are prepping for the forthcoming year.

  4. Just back from Redline near Stockton and what a great bunch of people they are. They race in the carrera Cup and have also started racing lambos too so they know a thing or two about how a car should drive etc. Anyway they had mine up on the ramp giving it a good look over and then test drive. They diagnosed the front offside wheel bearing before they took it out whilst it was on the ramp. Slight play but definite grind when the wheel was spun. No worries re water pump (or IMS either) so all good there. They commented on how good the car looks too so the da polisher was definitely worth it.

All booked in for the end of the month for both front bearings and a 4 wheel alignment whilst they're at it. Will definitely be back there rather than the main dealer. Recommended for sure for anyone up that way.

  5. Just called my local OPC as I want to find out if the wine I'm hearing at motorway speeds is wheel bearing or water pump related. Now I'm aware some garages charge but they want £144 just to diagnose. Parts will be on top of that.

So just wondering how that compares with other experiences.

I'm just about to call a local independent to see what they say.

  6. That's what I was thinking and I think the handle was down. But on closer inspection and now that I'm home it appears the knocking (apart from the obvious plastic shattering) was the metal arm hamming itself under another part of the mechanism so I get the feeling the plastic knuckle was broken before today's outing. I've just removed the arm and tapped the thread back to normal so saved having to buy a new arm.

Although now I've seen where the plastic thing joins onto I'm wondering how I'm going refit it once I've fitted the new plastic bit so any tips will be most welcome.

  7. Yep as above we had a run out today and as we got into town the sun was shining so thought it would be nice to get the roof down...... I realised my mistake when there was a loud bang which was when I thought I should really have released the big handle near the rear view mirror.....doh.

I found the remnants of the plastic knuckle joint thing and have ordered two to do both sides but I also spotted the wire cable was now disconnected with noting on the end of it.

So just wondering if anyone has had that happen or what I'll be looking at to repair/replace the cable and how to do it.

By way of an update, I’ve sold my Boxster 😪

The Incartec fitting kit meant the stereo came out really easily and I’ve put the original CD-R back in for the new owner. The Kenwood will be going in the replacement car, but that’s not a Porsche, so I have a spare Incartec fitting kit and harness available if anyone wants one.
Fire me a message and we can agree details.
    It’s the FK-9591-IGN from https://incartec.co.uk/product/Porsche-987-997-Single-Double-DIN-stereo-fitting-kit-CANBUS-IGNITION-SILVER-FK-9591-IGN

    Thanks

Just sent you a msg re the harness and fitting kit.

  9. Bought a couple of sheets of wire mesh from B&Q to make some radiator grill guards. Now just need to cut them to size, spray them black and fit some tubing around the edges and them tie wrap in place. Should be a nice job whilst the weather is so bloody cr*p. At least it'll wash the salt off the roads. Might even roll the bike out the garage and have a blast 😎

  10. I've just ordered N rated for my 2005 which has the 17 inch with my local main dealer. Not much more than the non N ones from black circles. The parts guy mentioned that the car must've been looked after as it has a matching set of N rated ones on so that was good to know. I've only had it since Dec.

    @ChrisW2, I’ve just fitted these

    https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/h7-twenty20-projector-led-headlight-bulbs-pair.html

and they’ve made a big step up from the standard bulb, probably quite a lot due to the whiteness (6000K) of the beam.

Previous LEDs I tried were more yellow coloured and also flickered at low temperatures so I also installed Philips CANBUS adapters which just go in line between the OEM connection and the LED bulb. I followed the guide that @Hainesy made and it all worked first time. The hardest part was taking the headlight out and putting it back in again as I was worried about breaking the headlight, but take your time and it will make sense when you actually try it.

Can you remember which way round they went? I've read the reviews and one mentions v up/down. I'm tempted by these over the hids due to the instant light.

They are about 80p each I think.  Most opcs will post stuff to you for nominal p&p

i did the same thing when I had the same problem  with the brake light (mine actually had water splashing around in it ) I drilled a hole in it to let it drain the sealed the hole and the seam of the light with silicon.  Still good two years later.

Cheers Paul. That's exactly what I'm doing. Drilled a small hole and left it draining overnight. Will order the nut today and by the time it arrives the light will be dry and sealed ready to fit.

  13. Already in awe of this awesome site for answering my many questions. This time it comes from taking the high level brake light out to sort a small amount of condensation. One of the grommet nuts was a bit skewif and fell inside the panel. So would anyone know the part number or could point me in the direction of the parts fiche please? Cheers
