  1. It was 45k miles when I bought it. I did filter out cars over 50k miles on AT and PH; it's going to be a daily driver, currently doing 2 or three lots of 60miles a week. It'll add up fast...

Also the blue paint and grey leather plus PSE and at a dealer I knew personally (with borescope done and warranty) meant it made sense at that price.

I paid top dollar no doubt, but there were others up around £20k!

Was trying to sell one of these recently for a member of the Porsche group I am the tech for.

It was a 2010 in Black and manual, FSH, good spec etc

Could not get 16k and as such, it is in storage till the Spring.

Jeez, I paid more than that for my '07 S in summer and the price was 'good' compared to what was out there...

  3. My dashboard speakers (Bose equipped car) are pretty buzzy sometimes, all is not well.

Reading posts with regard to replacing the CDR24 unit, it seems very complicated due to fibre optics - does the same apply to the speakers or can they just be switched out, plug and play by a Halfords type outfit?

Great spec too with Sport Chrono Plus, PASM, BOSE, Extended leather, Sports seats and steering wheel, Nav, Xenons, Climate, 19” Lobsters, Short shifter etc.   So I’m hoping it will be a lovely, reliable car !

Blimey that is a good spec!! I was pleased to get heated seats and a PSE on mine!

Have you got a picture of the sports steering wheel please? I'm considering replacing mine, but have stone grey leather which is going to be cause for a retrim as any for sale are black leather...

  5. I'd like a smaller diameter steering wheel, 200 cell cats and my phone to bluetooth to the stereo.

Making it much faster, louder and more focussed makes no sense in a 15yr old daily driver :)

  6. With the summer we've had, I'd never driven the car with the roof up until a recent rain shower - my god it sounded good! I have a 987.1 S with factory PSE and frankly it is a disappointing sound, even under power. I don't want to hang a massive exhaust off the back, more increase induction noise in the cabin for my own personal use as it were. I have just read the 'Desnorkelling Myths' thread so looks like blanking plate removal plus a BMC filter might help. I don't want the expense of decat/200 cell manifolds yet...

What is it that's making a 996/997 sound so much better than a 987 though? Both flat sixes, I thought I'd get the 911 sound. Does the folded roof sound-deaden the engine inside the cabin, or does the mid location mean its too far inside the body to hear? It sounded 'mechanical' with the roof up and I'd like that whenever driving.

I would assume you would need to end up with mini din to 30 pin and apple 30 pin to lightning adapter. In my setup that gives you track info, allows you to search for artist album etc and does pause when the phone rings.

That's great info. I suppose if I go Amazon with free returns I can check whether it works as long as I unpack it all carefully. It's a potential 60 quid solution which is pretty impressive...

But that’s a guess - there maybe some other magic cable combo - and if you have found a din to lightning cable I would be interested in the specs to see if I could use it to minimise the adapters and cables in use on my setup.

This was what I found. If you understand the specs, please do let me know! Says it charges too...

  8. Afternoon all, newbie saying hello!

New to me, '07 987 S in midnight blue bought from Sean at Flat six classics in Devon. Lovely car and every bit as enjoyable as my previous 964 Targa and 996 Cab.

Quick stereo question; I have CDR24 with Bose. In the centre console I have 2 ports, one for a standard headphone jack (marked Aux) and one for a round multi-pin plug (marked iPod). Standard kit? Looks it.

Playing around with some old cables, my iPhone 8 plugs straight into the Aux and plays Spotify on channel 9 of the radio! I'm thrilled with that to be honest as I don't want to throw cash at a Dennison or the like yet.

To use the other port marked iPod, I'd need to buy a £30 cable (mini-DIN to Lightning I think) BUT what would that give me if anything? Would I gain use of the stereo controls to switch songs etc or would it just play whatever is on the phone as the Aux port does?

    Ta very much in advance!
