  1. Hello

    I have a 2014, 2.7 981

Tyres on mine were not the best, and a huge improvement when I changed to Michelin P4S for the handling, can't remember what was on them before.

Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the drain holes and had a small swimming pool in the passenger side, that presented itself when the roof claw wouldn't engage properly, a drowned roof module. Full interior taken out, new module and the interior and other parts took a week to dry out. Work carried out by an indie Porsche specialist. They also modified the drain seals with an open type rather than the one way valve type fitted by Porsche.

The car was in Porsche for a recall back in November and the front disks were rusty on the inside, quoted £1350 for replacement by Porsche, got Brembo disks and Texstar pads for about £250 and my friend who has a 986 replaced them for me (only cost a bottle of decent malt) as he is much handier than me.

Just had an intermediate service at the same Indie, £450 for oil, filter, seal, brake fluid, outer pollen filter and a few other odds an sods that didn't seem too bad to me.

Enjoy the car they really are tremendous, especially roof down on a nice windy road.

    Cheers

  2. Hello there

Only a list of the extra bits I authorised, basically bolts and the lower arms as the bushes were split, charged £1k for that.

There does seem are fair bit of new metal you can see underneath and through the wheels. Apparently 8 hours labour involved.

  3. Belated update.

Work was done, ended up in for 5 days, they picked it up and dropped it off.

A load of urgent items required, only authorised replacing the rear lower arms, other things I got sorted out.

Surprised at how much was replaced, dread to think what it would have cost if I was paying out for it.

    Cheers

  4. Booked in with Porsche Glasgow for the 6th of November, they are picking it up, a big job as the service manager explained.

Going for a wee break in Chester & Liverpool in a couple of weeks, not entirely sure whether to take it or not, or just take my company car.

Does say its fine to drive in the meantime (providing no "highly dynamic driving")

  5. Just got one of the 10mm thick ones, fits easier than the OEM mesh, looks good.

Found the mesh made headlights in the rear view worse, so will be interesting to see if it helps the next time I drive at night.

    Cheers
