  1. Hi all

Car has the TRD 4” UDP fitted. Want to change the belt but can’t find one online. Design 911 etc done have the correct length belt.

any ideas where to source within the UK.

it maybe easier to put the original stock pulley back in given it’s not tracked or driven at high revs for long.

That's a very frequent method used here, yes. I think there have been others. They seem to be based on how much is needed to drop and how familiar you are with working on the engine.

Thanks - I don’t think it needs much so will try that as have the tools etc to jack it up.

I’ll make sure I’ve got plenty of sheets down b

  3. Hi All

changed the oil and filter on the 986 S. took my time, checked the oil level at various intervals- all seemed good. At the max on both electronic and dip stick readings.

checked the car this morning and it’s showing above max on the dash reading.

it’s hard to tell on the dipstick as the oil is new and it only looks like feint traces above the max.

Anyway, to be on the safe side I want to drop some oil out (ruled out extraction from the dipstick and oil filer tube).

Quick search suggests dropping the filter cartridge is simplest and less messy option?

Can anyone confirm this is the easiest way to go!?

    thanks

  4. So I purchased a 2003 986 S a few months ago.

I paid significantly less for a 2003 S with full SH, RMS done, upgraded IMS, new clutch,  18” 997 wheels, air con, rear sensors, hard top with a bag and stand. New condensers and various other refreshed parts and a good MOT history. 64k miles and 2 owner car.

I saw a lot of cars that were more expensive and not in as good condition and some that were into silly money.

    Good luck with the sale.

  5. Thanks all

So now have the part numbers from the refurb garage (paint was drying so didn’t want to touch them).

they are 18” carerra 3 lightweight alloys

    part numbers: 997.362.136.00 and 997.362.140.01

I think the 225s will fit the front but have asked the garage to check if the rear will clear the suspension/callipers etc.

worse case is the 15ml spacers stay but with the 265 rears and 225 fronts.

  6. Hi all

After some help if I can

I'm having the wheels on the Boxster refurbished and it's thrown up a dilemma on tyre size.

The car has 18" carrera 2 alloys. The rears have 17mm spacers to fit the hub.

When I bought the car it was running on 265 width at the rear (which are the standard size) and 235 at the front.  The recommended tyre width seems to be 225.

I'm now unsure if I should put 225 tyres on the front or stick with the 235s.

Is the wider tyre on the front there to compensate for the spacer on the rear or simply to add more grip to the front if the car was being used on track.

I wanted to put the car to standard as much as I can so had purchased 225 tyres for the front but am worried it will upset the handling. Should I just stick with 235s?

    Really welcome your advice.
    thanks!!
