Good to know - will have a shufty!

Hmm - that feels like an issue with the regulator - the 987 is "old school" ( no stop/start agm cleverness) - so I would expect "charging" to be at a fairly constant level (small variation for idle I guess ) - I couldn't say if thats unusual - never observed it close up - but it feels wrong especially if it's an irregular fluctuation.
I have only observed a couple of cars with a multimeter for charging - and I seem to remember that was "about 13.7 ish" when running - so seems you may have an kicked ants nest, be intersted in hearing other folks thoughts and experience.
Thanks - I use a TopDon20 battery analyser with the phone App, clever bit of kit but also opens Cans of Worms 😜

Interesting observation.
My thoughts / questions - no experience or answers
Engine running at idle if so does it smooth out to the higher end if you raise the revs ?
any squeal from the belt ?
Constant charging profile at idle and up to 2.5k, no squeaks!

So I ran some tests on the battery installed in my Boxster, I was curious about slow cranking - Health is ‘Good’, Cranking is ‘Good’ although a bit slow in my opinion, Load/No Load Voltage is ‘OK’ (12.3/11.6) Live Charging was the one that puzzles me.
I’m getting a stepped wave of charge (engine running, accessories off) that fluctuates between 12.5v and 14.3v, whereas the same trace on my BMW, Disco or SWMBO’s Mazda are all a constant 14.5v charging trace.
C’est normal or something to investigate?
If any have similar experiences do tell!

Nice, I've got some sheets spare as i'm mid way through upgrading speakers as well as the same exhaust - will try later on today! Do you have the valved or unvalved version?
Unvalved - permanently ‘on transmit’ 😊

….stuck some sound deadening stuff under the boot lid to cut the resonance of the DesignTek exhaust (which booms terribly). Has had a positive effect, much less intrusive. Boot acts like a huge Bass Cab, not now….

I have the DesignTek unvalved catback on a 2.7 Gen 1 and it is far too loud for me - the drone is invasive with the hood up in 4th/5th at 2k rpm. Very shouty on high revs as well….previous owner forked out £1200 for this annoyance which I assume was cheaper than an OEM replacement? The neighbours love a cold start at 06:30…

Replaced the saggy knicker elastic to make the hood sit correctly when closed, drivers side took 30mins, Passenger side 10mins 🙄

Can I ask what it cost? I've been thinking about booking mine in.
I did my Three previous Defenders as DIY projects -c£80 each in Lanoguard plus sheets of old cardboard to protect the drive, I also smelt like a an old sheep until a decent shower. Good results. Will be doing my 987.1 when it stops raining long enough…..

Mine has just returned with all of its manifold nuts in the right place and no leaks.

Just needed a whistle and glow stick, and i'd have been 18 again
Mantronix - that takes me back, a bit further back lurks ManParrish ‘HipHop BeBop( Don’t stop)’
More like Hip Op nowadays…..

I’m a 6’2” ‘unit’, and I find the 987 snug but surprisingly comfortable- headroom is fine as is elbow space. Only squeeze is left knee/hand/steering wheel occasionally- but can live with it happily. Easier to get in and out of than my 1series beater mind…

Cleaned all the accumulated cack out of the front scuttle, unblocked all of the water drains, realised many plastic clips and fasteners missing including one of the damper top covers. All stupidly expensive to replace!
-
What am I doing wrong!?
-
-
…strapped these on, I think I like.
…although I’m a Luddite at photo uploading 🙄
-
As title, having cleaned the leaves, stones, JSO protestors out of the front rad ducts the water still doesn’t drain very quickly- normal or should there be obvious drainage points that maybe full of crud?

Well after a Week of ownership I think this might be a keeper for a fair while (unless it goes bang, then we’ll see) I’ve not had as much fun since my last Caterham, but I’m a fat git now so it’s coping with the ballast pretty well!

Live Charging Voltage Trace

Mine fluctuates at idle (like an ecg trace), so the exam question is ‘normal or not?’. Lots of theories abound, I’m after an experienced based opinion - though it is charging so not crucial!
Full Wave Rectification is my pet theory based on a dim & distant recollection of Physics A Level - but curious as to why only the Porker displays this. I think Paul P might be close with the regulator being in control- but if it’s supposed to look like that then shovel down😜
