Guy in the states has over 300k on the original clutch.............

Ah yes...I forgot about MarcW/Macster. He drives his Boxster mostly highway miles though I think, but still amazing that his clutch lasts so long. It's an 02 base, and he still has the original IMS in there too!

You've potentially got a way to go: mine's 18 years and 92k and I know others can trump that!

That's good to hear. It would be nice to get 100k out of the original clutch. I don't baby mine, so it prob won't last that much longer, but I'm hopeful!

What have YOU done to you're 986 today ?

Well I paid for a new clutch and DMF today.

I have had my 2004 2.7 facelift for 10 years now and the clutch started slipping.  The previous clutch was replaced at around 50,000 so this time I had the DMF replaced.

Very happy.  The clutch action is so light and the the whole drivetrain feels like driving a low mileage demo.

10 years of happy Boxster ownership and this was the largest expense.

How many miles did the 2nd clutch last? Just curious. Mine's 15 yrs old and still on original clutch (72k miles).

  4. Thanks guys. The closely placed letters started to really bother me after seeing how Porsche spaces them on their newer cars (I put my original set on before they started adding the letters to the 981 Boxster/Cayman). I still think the placement is too wide and too high up on the 981 from the factory, so I copied the spacing and curvature from the first gen Panamera, and put the letters 2" up from the trunk lid which is where the original Boxster emblem was. I thinks it looks well proportioned to the 986 trunk lid.
