Thanks for this. Mine makes exactly the same noise, but not sure I can be arsed to re-grease, or even change it. 1/4 second squeal on start.

I have a Porsche approved, custom modified, turbocharged, bastard filed, baby hacksaw scarred (better swirl patterns) flat head, ignition switch screwdriver if anyone near to Camberley needs to borrow one?
Well done Boxob 🤠

I have stopped playing golf as of 2017. Sadly I have a chronic back condition al la Tiger, Ballesteros, Freddy Couples. Since quitting golf, it has decreased in frequency and pain. Funnily enough dirt-bike riding does not exacerbate it! I still miss New Zealand Golf Club though...
How is your golf?

Such a pity, really. I had a 3-stalk up for sale on eBay and informed this forum. Sold for £150 less the eBay fees.

You get dedicated O2 sensor split sockets. Definitely worth getting a set if you are going to DIY.

My Jag has lasted 18 months so far. I went as far as 2000, and used the Meguiars kit, with ceramic wipe. I clear coated them afterwards but should have not gone higher than 1200-1500.
I did the Litronics using various wet and dry pads in September I bought on t'internet up to 1500, and clear coated. They definitely came up better this way.
The clear coat is a hard UV protection and they don't have to be re-coated, as with ceramic wipes.
They have come up very well.

Good final finish.
The orange peel was caused by two things. You went too fine with the sandpaper before applying clear-coat (1500 max), since it needs a keyed surface. You applied the clear too thickly. First coat, mist coat, then additional coats 10-15 minutes apart. Needs to be 20-25°C for the clear to dry past tack point between coats.
2K paint is highly toxic and you need a proper respirator, eye protection and no exposed skin. This can't be exaggerated.
I've used 600/800/1000/1500 wet sanding pads on 1/4" drill. Standard clear-coat. Each light takes about 20 minutes.
I've done them with the UV wipes, no clear-coat, too (sanded to 2000), but the finish doesn't last more than 6-12 months.

My 2003 986S and 2003 Jag XJ8 4.2 are both ULEZ exempt.

That's nothing. Mine will be 23 soon.
I hope that you have no advisories, too. 🤑

Has anyone fitted this one to a facelift Boxster S?
Amazon say it won’t fit.
Me.

This is the one that I used.

Just replace the ignition switch. They are about £10, and takes about an hour with swearing, bloody knuckles and a shortened 3mm flat head screwdriver.

Discovered that my 02, 3.2S has PSM.
Also has heated seats, glass rear panel and 3 intermediate hoops on the hood:
Could it be a face lift?
Also fitted the Toyosports s/s exhaust manifolds. Removed the suspension cross beam, had it shot blasted, painted and refitted it. Ditto the fuel tank straps and ARB’s.
If it has a drop down hinged cubby hole it's a facelift. The heated glass rear screen too.

You can get PSM on facelift. It was one of my must have options at the time...

Any OAT. You can get it in a multitude of colours from many places...

Any smoke from exhaust? Sounds like it could be AOS.

Well, I haven't died yet...they weren't ugga-dugga'd by Primo Wheels - I was there when they refitted them, but I never queried the torque spec'.

What torque would you use with these?
No idea, they were fitted by the chaps who refurbished my wheels. I can't see why they'd have a different torque spec as specified in the workshop manual?

I bought these ones to replace my corroded bolts. Bonus was getting rid of locking wheel bolts.

In this day and age I don't think us lowly 986 have to worry about that with all the modern expensive cars.
The days of putting a locking wheel bolt on a 17" are long gone as well.
Indeed - I removed mine when I replaced the corroded original bolts.

What have YOU done to your 986 today ?

I've the same issue on one of my headlamp units. No matter what, it doesn't click in. I have to give it a solid thump in and the connectors make contact. It vibrates itself out again after a few days, and thump again to restore functionality.
