  1. Hi @Flame470 as far as I have been able to ascertain when I went into my OPC, the standard fit wheel is the ‘Multifunction GT sports steering wheel and gear selector in Race-Tex’.
On the configurator (same in the OPC) it does not show as being multifunction though. My SE said he would report that to Porsche.

Despite reading forums and listening to advice about treating and cleaning from my SE and a local detailer, I know it is going to bother me keeping it in good condition.

So the options are GT Sports Steering Wheel in leather (multifunction currently unavailable) or the Heated Multifunction Wheel in Carbon.
I have currently configured the carbon wheel as have the GTS interior in my spec.  I believe it causes mixed feelings but is the best option for me currently.  I am keeping an eye on availability of the Leather Multifunction wheel up to my lock date first week in July

  2. My last loan car when I took the 911 in for service towards the end of last year was an Audi A5!!  Though that was also at a time when there was virtually no stock and hardly anything in the way of courtesy cars.  Rest assured it will not be a 911 or a GT car so will not be as good as your GTS.

  3. Thanks for the advice, I had seen someone else on a thread somewhere saying exactly that.  It’s not an option I had even considered.  I am now too and fro with leather vs GTS interior.  Though that’s just the start, I think I am going to have a good, but indecisive few weeks.

I am going to another local OPC to look at an arctic grey boxster (not GTS I don’t think)  they have in at the moment to see colour in the flesh.

  4. I had a 981 S previously with standard audio which was very weak and without the sports exhaust. Currently in a 992 S coupe with chrono and sports exhaust and Bose which incidentally love to bits - The sound is very good to my aging ears, but can also experience the benefits in a coupe more of the time. In the boxster the Burmester feels like huge overkill at over £3k

I do get the comments from everyone I know about it being a big backward step in every respect going from the 992 to the BGTS. I just want a convertible and probably the size of the boxster is better and more manageable for what I need so hope I don’t regret it!

I absolutely love the Arctic Grey colour, but must have the full gloss black packs and am absolutely blown away with the engine even just using light throttle and 3-4000 rpm.

I will send you loads of photos if you like, if you pm me your email address.

Will do thanks for your help.

Do you have Bose - and what’s your opinion - I was just reading a forum where the guy was really disappointed in it?

  6. The car at Solihull looks like delivery miles only but must have been a showroom stock car, especially based on the amount of options on it.  Apparently another thing they have to do with stock cars is heavily load them with options.  I imagine it’s been in the showroom (can’t confirm that) usually for about 3 months before they move them on.

I get the current list price based on the new configuration options around £98k for that one, there would be another £2k ish to add if it was ‘new’.  Clearly would not have been that price to the OPC originally though.

Just seen Porsche Solihull put their demo up for £102k...don't think you have to worry👍

Hi, thanks very much for your reply much appreciated.

We did chat via PM when you got your amazing car allocated re wait times, though not on residuals as this will be a long term car.  My 981 I had for 7yrs.  The current 992 will have to go unfortunately after less than 18moths. I have been waiting since end October 21 and that was taking an order for a poor guy whose circumstances had changed and had to pull out.  My conversations with my OPC in last few weeks indicated I would be unlikely to get an allocation until end of this year for Q1 24 delivery.

I just got an email to say I now have an allocation and need to lock down my spec within next 6 weeks - so the back and forth on the configurator and weeks of indecision begin not complaining though as it’s also very exciting!!!

Just on the wheel spec looks like the standard fit is the ‘Multifunction GT sports steering wheel and gear selector in Race-Tex’  which just changes to GT sports steering wheel when you select leather interior.

Think your right though it’s feels like a question for my sales guy.

I trust your enjoying your new ride, having seen your pictures now also debating Arctic Grey 🤔

  8. First apologies for those on PH that might already have seen my question.

Hopefully should have an allocation soon after 18+ months. After all the changes to standard equipment and configurator options, it’s time to review my original order spec. The multifunction wheel in race-tex is now standard (though the multifunction does not show in the graphic). However if you spec full leather interior it changes to the GT Sports wheel (again multifunction not shown).

Does anyone know/managed to find out,  (if lucky enough to be currently settling on a spec) if the multifunction is retained on the GT Wheel with leather?

In the wheel section the GT Wheel does not show multifunction on the option ticked, only other option shown is to pick the multifunction carbon wheel which a) not keen on and b) just does not fit with no other carbon.

Having gone through this process, it's quite stressful, wondering if you will ever get your car.

I think now most centres are not taking orders as they are being told that due to component shortages, production is going to cease at the end of this year. There will be a few trickle through next year but not many.

I spoke to my OPCs, where I have orders in from November 2022, today and the comments were not overly positive with less than expected allocations so far this year and even if a car gets allocated some key items (for some) such as Bose and LEDs may not be available at time of build.

I have had a deposit for a BGTS down since beginning of Nov 21, and that was a cancelled order slot. Estimated allocation Dec 22 with delivery Mar 23.

Been in recently as not heard anything about allocation or freeze date.  Seems at my OPC still 3rd on list, one currently looking like allocated and with hardly any cars in 22 and likely allocation of only 2 cars coming through in 23, now likely allocation is end of 23 - so a full 2 year wait.  Getting a bit twitched as still no guarantee of an allocation and with the EV reportedly likely 24, not sure how long the current production will continue.

  10. Great spec. We all complain about the amount of cost options on Porsche cars and especially on a £70k plus car you would expect to be just standard fare on a mid spec Kia.  The other side of the coin though is how individual nearly every car is!

I've just picked up an email from my dealer, car being built this month for delivery in March! 😁

Wow that’s great news!  Now the real excitement begins rather than the fear of being let down with no end in sight.

What did you finally settle for as spec?

I noticed this the other day, for Boxster GTS

Few other things seem to have disappeared too. Park Assist with Camera, 2-Zone Climate being a couple.  I have a car ordered but some way off my quoted time yet but a bit worrying, anyone got any insight?

    oops, my mistake £1310

Good question!   I was just thinking about this yesterday when considering my long lead time so checked the T&C’s on the order

    7. NEW GOODS / USED GOODS
    a. Where the Goods to be supplied by the Seller are new, then the
    following conditions shall apply

    ii. if before delivery of the Goods the Manufacturer/Concessionaire's recommended retail price for the Goods shall be increased the Seller shall give notice of the increase to the Purchaser whereupon the Purchaser shall be entitled by notice in writing to the Seller to cancel the contract within 21 days of the date of the Notice. Upon such cancellation any deposit paid by the Purchaser shall be returned and the Seller shall be under no further liability to the Purchaser. If no notice is received within such period then the Purchaser shall be bound to purchase the Goods at the increased price;

so simply put they can increase the price and it’s tough!

Can’t believe they actually have an allocation to have one in the showroom unsold!   Looks like a GTS interior.
I popped into my local dealer, they had a Carrera in Shark Blue which looked great.  Still having my head turned a bit by the lush deep Gentian.  Knowing how my 981 collects dust, not sure how long it will stay deep and shiny though.

Shark blue, seats with black sides and pebble centre panels to lighten the interior, blue seat belts…

    …just an idea…

Good choice thanks, its similar to something I was looking at. Shark Blue with black and crayon seats.  Your suggestion is definitely worth some serious though. Configuration does not seem to want to play with seat centre options.   What’s your thought on GTS interior?

I suspect I may get mine a bit quicker than other parts of the UK just because there's going to be less demand in Northern Ireland. I was told by the dealer this week they have been given an allocation for just 1 Boxster for the remainder of this year and I've got it.

You really have done well.  My deposit went down last week on a cancelled order they just had 2hrs previous. No idea when the original order went in but the projected delivery date is March 23!

To an extent I accepted the date as the norm currently but it does mean I have a year of constantly changing mind on spec.  The main ones being colour and interior, where unfortunately I like reading and valuing opinions (some) before making my mind up. Rest Of spec I am pretty much happy with my choices.
So if anyone has any pearls of wisdom on what is I know ultimately a personal choice but one that also affects how the car is viewed on colour and interior then happy to hear them? - let’s face it we like our cars to be admired too!

  17. I was in the same position. My 981 is a very low mileage example in like new condition and I’m also looking at a large premium to change. Is it worth it? In reality definitely not, but these things are seldom ruled by your head.  It will be as you say the last chance.  I think the back orders will very quickly outstrip availability before it ceases altogether in a couple of years.

  18. Good evening all,

first an apology it has been a long (too long) time since I visited BoXa.net as had some great advice and support when I originally purchased my 987 and then the 981S.

Been pondering for a while as I could not bring myself to part wih my manual 981S, but just placed deposit in a new GTS on Saturday when I popped into my local OPC. Apparently they had literally just taken a call on a cancellation for one.   Despite the fact its a cancellation, proposed delivery is March 23 so heaven only knows what the full lead time is!

    Current prospective spec is http://www.porsche-code.com/PNX9PDL5

Controversialy for some tempted to go PDK even after loving my manual 981 S.  I know spec is largely a personal thing but any things I should be considering in relation to its desirability on the day it will unfortuantely leave my hands in the future?  The GTS interior made me wince at the cost but not sure if its expected on GTS for resale.

Sorry for the many questions and know I have a lifetime to wait but need to think about the future of my 981S manual, in Agate with two tone Agate and Cream leather seats, 20" wheels, which is immaculate with full OPC service history and only 22k miles.  Any ideas on right time to sell especially with the market being the way it is at the moment?
