  1. The Boxster scores by being every day usable and easy to drive. It loses points for feeling special by that same criteria.
A modern Elise is more urgent and more fun to drive, assuming you aren’t on motorways or long stretches of autoroute.
It’s palpably not as good to tour in though.
R8 is a very wide car. The options on your car for me, consolidate the experience. The PCCB are a thing of joy and the only thing your car lacks for me are bucket seats which seem Uber rare on a Boxster.

  2. See my post of 21st July. No one fancied it. I’ve got the Bluetooth equipped on my JCW mini. It pops and crackles a bit too much for my liking in sport mode which is where that over fuel feature is activated. I like it in on in the mid mode as you get a throatier sound without crackles and bangs. That was £1600 and also came with a remap taking the car up from 190 Bhp to 210.
The Porsche version isn’t bundles at £1850 IF you already have the sport tips. It is a lump of money though. I haven’t committed yet myself.

  3. Proper nasty looking wheels. Some achievement making OEM look aftermarket. The accents don’t work and as a signature inside colour red with red dash top is divisive at best.

The old 986 550 had some of the best options including a then unique interior colour, unique (albeit only painted) alloys, short shift kit and a wee bit more power.

What a missed opportunity this is in comparison. They could have created a better one from the current Tequipment brochure and options list.

  4. Option code for sports tailpipe was XLS. Option for PSE is XLF. According to price list I have XLF was only in conjunction with XLS.

In other words if you were speccing PSE (£1530 as factory ordered option) you HAD to order sports tailpipes as well. Shown as £365 when new.

  5. Sorry my PM inbox was full. Now resolved. I’ll message the OpC chassis numbers for mine, Sean’s and Graham’s cars new week to get the lowest price achievable. I’ll PM you both with prices when received. Anyone else interested please PM me it’s working now

  6. I have a chassis number from Graham. I need chassis numbers from others if you want to proceed. I don’t want to post the details of the OPC on this thread but they are close to London. Price will include Porsche warranty and the correct button in OEM fitment next to the gearshift.

    Roll up, Roll up...

  7. I have an update. In a stroke of good fortune, my car was Specced with sports tail pipes from new. This is required for PSE thus reduces the cost.
ive got an OPC who will do a car with sports tail pipes at £1850 fitted. Looks like without maybe closer to £2200. I’m hoping to get that second price lower.

Those who are interested, I need your chassis number. That way OPC parts will price exactly against your car. Booking from early Feb. PM me your name, chassis number and mobile if you want me to advance this.

  8. I’ll leave this hanging till after Xmas and the end of tier 11, or whatever we are up to them.
Assuming we haven’t entered a zombie apocalypse, I’ll call some dealers and see if any of them want the business. I’m going to aim for £1800 for each one, fitted. If they have fitted at that sort of level to sell a used car then it must be doable. If we get 5 cars to the nominated opc one wet Wednesday afternoon in February It would give them something to do.

  9. My car has the sports tailpipe optioned. Much as I’d like this exhaust it’s not worth £2k plus to me. So far, based on this thread, we are somewhat short of enough people to make a group buy viable.
5 x people with a 981 wanting PSE roughly equal to £9k for an OPC. I think that’s something to aim for?
4 more people here willing to travel, feel the same?

  10. This may be useful for those who fancy this. I’ve put some enquiries out for prices to supply and fit. I think this thread can serve two purposes. Share what the price was to supply and fit, location and when that price applied. It’s likely that prices from 2016 will have increased.
secondly, if there is sufficient interest to have the work done at a nominated OPC, I could look to see if they are interested in lowering the price further for a ‘group buy’ . I can’t see service being over busy at the beginning of next year. An opc may find the idea of 5+ orders for this something they’d like a piece of.

Post here if you are interested in getting this done or have a price/location to suggest.
