  1. It looks fantastic; the world needs more yellow cars, even if it is Racing rather than Speed Yellow 🙂... or is it called Harland & Wolff Yellow over there? 😄

I think coloured dials are a nice idea, but I agree that the warning lights spoil the effect somewhat. But the fact that the right-had 'dial' is a screen rather than a static dial spoils it even more (for me anyway - perhaps too adicted to symmetry). Anyway, a big thumbs up to yellow roll hoops & seat belts :thumbsup_still: - evidently a person of impeccable taste 🙂

They are different offside to nearside too, as I expect you may know.

At the risk of being a bit nerdy (though it might be a bit late for that), the introduction of the assymmetric engine compartment vents, where the left grille wasn't just a mirror of the right, came in during the 986.1 run on the black-slatted vents, not at the time of the facelift. I first saw it on the launch car for the 3.2S in around 1999, noticed it was different to my then-current 2.5, and thought it was a change specific to the S. But when I asked one of the Porsche hosts at the event (who was surprised I'd even noticed the difference), they said they were also going to be changed on the base model, just as an in-model improvement to the airflow (one being an inlet and the other an outlet of course).

My 987 one was missing when I viewed it too. Wonder how or why they go wandering off

I have no direct experience of this, but I believe the sequence of events is: passenger brings down the sun visor to use the mirror while the roof is open - when finished admiring themselves, doesn't close the mirror cover but just pushes the sun visor back to the up position (with the roof closed I think this would push the mirror cover closed, but not with the roof open) - roof is closed - mirror cover gets trapped in the closing gap and snapped off ...

A ball joint and all four tyres advisory! So now everyone's gonna look at the mot history and brand me a shyatety owner cos it looks like I've let the tyres go to shyate when the fronts are only two years old and they all don't look that bad at all, honest!

I don't think people are going to read that into a first tyre advisory! Surely it's the histories where the same advisories crop up year after year that cause concern?

I can't believe I haven't noticed it more so before but the difference a full tank of fuel and lots of bags in the frunk make to the handling!

Haha, is that what you're blaming for your slight tail-happiness when you left? :)

I have just realised there is a whole bunch of new emoticons available on the forum - at least on my laptop browser!  Forum software update I presume... there are even skin tones which is interesting - I don't think I have seen that option before!

This is confusing - I noticed the new emojis yesterday, although on my PC they just appears as black & white outlines. On my android tablet they are in colour, but I don't see any differetn skintones there.

On a slightly different topic, I also noticed yesterday that in the settings for Facebook Messenger, you can select what skintone you want as your default for the 'thumbs up' emoji. Mine still seems to be set to a (perhaps culturally innappropriate) bright yellow ...

Noticed the lhd foglight bulb isn't working so I'll fix that tonight

If you mean the rear foglight, I believe 986s are only wired to have one foglight working - it's a German thing I think, the idea being that just having one lit (on the offside) makes it more conspicuous/less likely to be confused with brakelights. Weirdly, on my 986 I seem to recall that there might even have been a bulb in the socket, but no wiring in the loom to it (although it took me a while to work that out!). It always offended my sense of symmetry, and I was tempted to do what I'm sure others have done and run a wire across from the other side, but I don't think I ever got around to it once I learned the reason for it.

Yeah, but I bet you had a bigger & better handbag than its driver ... :)

Second Bob's sentiments of happy anniversary ... I'm assuming that is you and Mr Sazzy, not you and your 986 :D

I bow to your knowledge sir, not heard of racing yellow, looked very much like speed yellow though. :(

He's right (of course :)). Racing yellow is a bit brighter/lighter, a bit more canary-yellow, whereas Speed yellow is more like egg yolk - see the 10th photo on this page: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/673076-opinions-of-those-who-ve-seen-racing-yellow-in-the-flesh-2.html

The Spyder in the foreground is Speed Yellow, the 911 behind is Racing Yellow. Personally, I prefer Speed Yellow, but then I'm not exactly unbiased.

Enjoy your trip Bob, sounds like it should be good. I would have waved to you :bye:
