  1. I am planing to get the ferry Newhaven to Dieppe for 3 days after Goodwood Revival September 2024 as we are down south. Can anyone recommend a good accommodation base to tour that area. I am too old to rough it 😄. Thanks.

  2. My Spyder is a 718. Speed humps are not an issue and taller ones can be taken at an angle. The potholes/roads/cobbles in Edinburgh make in town driving not a viable option due to the stiffer suspension. Out of town and continental touring are a different story. I agree with above , the roof is not as bad as made out. But great cars.

  3. I have a 2.9 manual and retro fitted PSE and short shift. I think you can get the OPC to retro fit the Sports Chrono functions but no wart/clock on the dash. From memory it was about £400. If you get a car with the Design Pack it has Spyder wheels and black mirrors included.

  4. I am in Edinburgh and just had 4 x N2 tyres fitted on my Macan. OPC quoted £1600. Redpath Tyres £1060 plus Michelin are doing a £100 refund for 4. So £960 net. PS tyres were produced week 18 2023 so spanking new.

  5. I have a 2019 3.0 S. Nice car but thirsty in town. Service costs are higher due to the oil changes. I have the Porsche Service Plan which is £86 per month for 24 months. I think It covers 2 services , 2 oil changes and 2 mot’s. I was quoted £1250 for the major service recently and these are not going to get cheaper. I also took the 2 year extended warranty. So thats about £3500 for both over 2 years but should ring fence costs. At the service I was told Porsche could replace the 4 tyres for £1600. Redpath Tyres were £1060 and Michelin are giving £100 back. So £960 total. Off for 2 weeks in Northern Spain so hope to enjoy the car.

  6. This link is to the same question in 2020.

I have a 2.9 Boxster and I don't think you would notice 10 more bhp. They are brilliant little cars that can use all their performance almost legally. They hold their value well too.

  7. I have a 2 night ferry crossing to Spain in my 987.2 Boxster. I know that if I double click the key fob it disables the cabin sensor but does anyone know if there is a tilt sensor in the car. Bay of Biscay can be lumpy at any time of year! I don't want to arrive in Bilbao and have a flat battery from the alarm going off. Thanks.

  8. It looks like your are going for a touring spec rather than lightweight track car. I did the same. The standard brakes are great for road use so I would probably save the £5k on ceramics. Either way you will love it.

I’ve only had mine for 6 months, and not used it a great deal due to Covid. So I’m definitely still in the honeymoon period, but I love it so far.

Mine is a 2009 987.2 S, but I got it on the classic register, I received my pack earlier this week.

How old minimum for the Classic Register. Thanks.

  10. I have had my 2010 Gen 2 2.9 for 7 years and still love it. I am the 2nd owner, the first having specced it really well. It is my summer daily.  I got a 718 Spyder in November which is a completely different car and isn't suited to Edinburgh city roads, more longer runs. Both keepers in different ways.

I'm fairly sure the drone is the cylinder deactivation. If you run the car with the auto stop/start deactivated it also runs the car on 6 cylinders all the time and I've yet to hear the drone noise then.

I have come to the same conclusion. Thanks. Just need for the rain to stop. 😀
