    PSE is worth every penny!

@Ringer250 has another option for you but buggered if I can remember the (well known) name of it!

Stuart, it is the Carnewal option from Gert in Belgium. Quite a few members on here have it, 987 as well as 981.Still enjoying the sound after 7 years!

I’m probably being thick but how have the numbers for 981 Boxsters on the road gone UP in 2022…….surely you’d expect a gentle decline in numbers Year on year?🧐

Probably due to number of cars that have been Sorned during pandemic period as the table only shows licensed cars per year.

That's interesting. I didn't do that because in my 2016 981 all the charging ports shut down after about 10 mins when the CTEK is active - this didn't happen in my previous 2013 981. I was keen to get the map upgrade done without suffering any unforeseen issues, particularly as the previous attempt by an OPC had failed with an error after an hour or so for a reason that they couldn't explain (and didn't even notice that it hadn't worked) . So I took what I thought would be the least risky route.

There have been numerous discussions both on BoXa.net and Porsche Club GB forum regarding connecting the CTek unit depending on the year of the 981. The trick was to ensure connection within the 10 minute period the standard supplied sockets are live after ignition switch off.
I have a 2014 model with the optional smokers pack which provides an extra socket where the standard open tray resides just ahead of the armrest. This has always worked even leaving the car overnight then opening the door and just plugging in the Ctek. There are reports that the 718 standard sockets also worked OK with ctek, so still not sure why Porsche appeared to have changed the operation on the later 981.

Do you mean that you also had the ignition on but the engine not running, Steve? Or does just plugging in the Ctek stop the PCM from shutting down? In which case, is that connected to the lighter socket or to the battery connection points under the bonnet?

Jon, Just plugged in the ctek to the lighter socket which kept PCM from shutting down. No ignition on. This was mentioned as a tip by someone in the original 2018 map upgrade when getting the DVDs from the ebay guy.

  5. I have also updated to the 2022 maps. Exactly the same process as described by @BrianJ including the disc count error on no 5. My software version was 4.73 now 4.76. Only thing I did differently was to plug the ctek charger in instead of keeping the engine running. Ctek did get a bit warm but not too hot.

I've still not had mine re-scheduled by OPC Silverstone.

Anyone on here had their car done @ Silverstone?

Had mine done at Silverstone. Initially booked in for November 2021. Called a few days before, parts not available. E- mailed OPC mid January and managed to get a booking for 14th February. It was only me calling that confirmed a re-scheduled date. They said they had to get a plan together to deal with over 45 cars affected by the recall. May be with worth contacting them to give a nudge.

Mine is in for the recall at present along with the 111 point check.

OPC said they are replacing both sides, I thought it was just one side?

2 days now with a base Macan, I would have thought that was sufficient time to do the work🤔

Also worth asking for a print out of the geo alignment for your records.

  8. If you have 2-zone air conditioning you can make a number of adjustments through the "Vehicle Settings" menus. For instance,  air flow set for "soft", the extended vent panels activated, and auto air-recirculation deactivated. This may make a difference? Can be found in the good to know app.

  9. Picked it up from OPC following the rear suspension carrier recall.  Affected parts replaced. Full Geo check and adjust with print out before and after plus descriptive invoice  ( no part numbers or prices) for record. Maintenance book was also updated showing the recall program number and date.

hi does the OPC contact you pro-actively or do you need to call them.

Just checked my VIN and no recalls came up.

    Thanks

The original UK recall for affected cars was by way of a letter from Porsche GB asking you to contact your local OPC to book the car in. It is not clear if Porsche GB used records from DVLA to ensure all cars were covered regardless of 1st or subsequent owners. Suggest contacting your local OPC to check if your VIN number is in the range.

  11. Direct Tyre pressure related TPMS became mandatory on all new model cars in November 2012. This was extended to all existing production models in November 2014. I believe the 981 had the full TPMS system as an option late 2013 and was standard from July 2014.

Did they proactively inform you of the problem and that your car was one of those affected or did you need to chase them?

Did not chase, received a letter from Porsche GB notifying me that my Boxster was affected. Then contacted OPC to book in for rectification.
