Cleaned it. Silver cars carry dirt quite well but I was still surprised how dirty it was.

Also cleaned the roof and applied Autoglym roof protector which I'd been putting off doing with the recent hot weather and direct sun.  Noticed that the back edge of the hood fabric has stated to come out of the training edge where it is gripped in place.  Any suggestions to DIY fix it?  I have already tried to use some thin edged tools to work it back in but tricky on damp fabric and I seemed to make little progress.

Just re stuck mine after the whole rear of roof came unstuck from frame using evostik 528 contact adhesive (you need an egg cup full I bought a litre 🤣). Took clam shell off to do it. A second pair of hands is essential as it sticks instantly 🙈 HTH

You are quite right, the colour and code is on there 🙈(was using work laptop yesterday that blocks photos).

Looked this morning and it is 39C

    Thank you.

One more. Does anyone know if the location of reversing sensors is moulded into the back of the rear bumper?

Yes your reverse sensor locations are marked with a moulded cross on the inside of bumper plastics & just to confirm my Midnight Blue Boxster paint code is L39C 👍

Thanks Chris - that's what I need, temporarily ... In fact, very temporarily, could just wedge something under the seat or is there gubbins in the way?

No nothing in the way. It doesn't take long to take seat out so much quicker that way then you can see what your doing. 👍

Is it possible to swap the 986 passenger and driver seat cushions? If so, is it a long job? I have a long trip next week which I don't fancy on my collapsed drivers seat but no time to fix it. However, when I do I have seen a link somewhere to a supplier of the webbing panel that fails but I now can't find it. Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

I threaded 2 luggage straps through underside of seat frame with a piece of foam between them + seat base & once pulled tight they lifted the saggy cushion back into place. It was a temporary fix done 18 months ago lol 🙈🤣

  5. You could leave your manual heater controls where they are & install your double din into the center console where the 2 cubby holes or cd holder are located (one of cubby holes goes where single din head unit is under heater controls). Not done in mine yet but have seen it done.

  6. I use one of these purchased off eBay for around £8 stuck on the dash on right side off steering wheel (you can put it anywhere). You might find that although the pioneer headunit mentioned  holds your phone in a perfect position it will also cover your heater controls.

I have already removed the belt.

I'll give the impact driver a try, but I was trying to be careful since this one is only supposed to turn a couple of turns before needing to be tapped.

If that's the tensioner pulley it's spring loaded so you don't need to remove it just stick a 24mms spanner on it & swing it up until you can get belt off. I have had to replace my tensioner after it seized.

  8. So yesterday with the MOT looming I decided I had best see why the brake pad wear light was on. So knowing I had done discs & pads on rear only a few months ago I started at the front to find plenty of meat left on all 4 pads, hmm ok then faulty sensor or broken wire somewhere maybe. Popped all the front semsors out & cleaned then put back in with light now gone out result! Off I go for a test run up into the peaks to find the light back on half way into run!! Back home front wheels off again disconnected & tested sensors one side at a time but no light still on. Ok lets go to the back then with wheels off same again diconnect, test & found sensor wire had broken where it passes through the notch/guide in the calliper on nearside rear (last bloody corner I checked). Soldered 2 new lengths of wire in & sealed with heat shrink job done with the only cost being time. Gave all the brake pipes a quick wire brush & lick of paint too. :-)

  9. Made some grilles to give the radiators a bit off protection. Looked at Zunnsports but I couldn't see any to fit the facelift bumpers & didn't like them stuck on the outside along with the high price. Mesh was around £15 posted then 3 or 4 hours to take bumper off & design, cut, shape, fit, etc. Really happy with the result :-)

Is this a mod for 986 owners?

No its for 987s the 986 hasn't got the "home" position on the headlight switch & with the fogs being in the headlights on 986s i am not sure  it will look right (photos anyone?). Looks awesome on the 987 though having done it to mates car.

    986 Foglight Mod

I havent done any research on the above but apparently running a wire from the foglight fuse to the fog light relay pin 56 has the desired effect on a 986.
