To be "clear" (boom boom)... you're talking about the windscreen protection film, not the PPF over your paintwork?
Yes, I’m talking about the windscreen film being removed.
-
So, the film is off again. The guys and I weren’t at all happy with the clarity. It looked fine in the install bay (and the install was super neat) but out on the road there were very distracting horizontal “ripples” interfering with my vision - like looking through water, or something like that anyway. They guys were aware of the safety implications and said it was best to remove it for now, and wait until the new delivery of the film arrives later this month, in case it’s a problem with this batch of film. So I’ll give it another try once it’s in.

She’s back in again now for windscreen protection film. For an additional £300 it seems like it’s worth a go to see if I can avoid any of those annoying little chips I tend to collect. I’ve not had it before so it’ll be interesting to see how it looks and performs.

I could be wrong but normally £1.5k ish for front end PPF. Paint correction and ceramic coating is usually around £800.
Spot on, Stuno1. 👏

Collected the Spyder today having had Premium Shield self-healing film fitted to the front end, headlights, wing mirrors, and lower bumper behind the rear wheels. Work was done at MarqueOne Detailing, Milton Keynes by Mark and Serge (who recommended this product over SunTek); both are passionate about what they do and very helpful guys. My previous 981S had Expel Ultimate so it will be interesting to see how Premium Shield compares after a few months.

What’s your latest opinion on this? Still worth it?
I’m thinking of adding this to the GT4. I’ve also managed to source a OEM back box which I’ve had doctored to increase noise
Oh, yes. Most definitely worth it. Do I need to also spend maybe £4.5k on a back box replacement? The jury’s still out, but it’s not a desperate need at the mo. I’d be interested to hear about your doctored back box though….

£8,500 for Spyder and GT4 though 🤔
But in the UK that does include one of the Porsche GB compulsory interior leather/race tex options.

Deposit paid. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
if I get one i see this being the sort of car for that I’d keep for a decade or more as it fits all of the fun boxes, with a hint of vaguely practical.
also means I’ll stop influencing (a little anyway) what my wife drives….
Well done, good luck, and welcome to the club!

And you have no reason to assume you won’t get a build then?
I think the chances are pretty slim, but I live in hope 🤞

Mind you, if the dashboard top was black I could be tempted with the Spyder Classic interior, and thus GT Silver with red roof, and PCCB’s with callipers in Black. But a red dash top isn’t for me.

PS which colour have you gone for?
Well, the current one is Miami Blue, a long-time fave of mine. However, seeing as that’s only now available via PTS, I’ve veered towards Racing Yellow, PCCB’s, black extended leather/ yellow stitching & belts, carbon interior trim. Can’t decide whether to go old-school and for silver wheels, or stick with Satin Platinum as per my current one.

Afternoon all, hope everyone’s well.
I have a quick question regarding people’s experience of Porsche honouring orders.
One of the London OPCs has told me that they’re able to take an order for a 718 Spyder, but they can’t guarantee the order will be fulfilled.
Given Porsche are rumoured to be moving to electric for the Boxster in the future this seems like the last opportunity to get such a cad, so I’m minded to give them the 5k deposit in the hope that they can come through.
Just wondered people’s opinion/experience around this and if anyone has experienced Porsche taking an order and then not coming through with the goods.
I’m happy to wait as long as it takes to get the car.
thanks
PS prospective spec for comment/derision www.porsche-code.com/PN4BP7Y6
Had my 5k deposit in since Spring’21 and still no sign of an allocation, and possibly no further update now till Feb. Bought the Miami Blue 2020 Spyder with 1,900 miles from Silverstone OPC just in case it never happens.
Your spec is good, and to your taste/preferences. I personally have gone for a bit more colour, but that’s what floats my boat. The only thing I can suggest, based on your seat choice (same as me, btw, more road biased than track) would be to consider the tyre choice. If you aren’t thinking of track days it might suit your needs more to see if you could get Michelin PS4S’s instead of the Cup 2’s. -

Interested to hear your feedback on this, how much was it, if you dong mind me asking?
Definite improvement. Now throughout the whole rev range the car sounds as you would expect it to have done, rather than the valves closing between 2k and 4k, muting the sound where you actually spend the majority of time. Having come from a 981S with PSE and Cargraphic “X”-pipe it was very lacking as standard so both myself and Mrs. drago knew straight away we needed to do something to restore some aural character, which for now this has succeeded in doing. It just feels more fun.
We’ll see how we get along with it over the next few months - a replacement back box might be on the horizon if we yearn for a bit more engagement with the car without being at 10/10ths.
For about £450 fitted it’s a no-brainer.
Another thing about the controller, it’s pretty much fit and forget, too. The controller stays on the selected mode until you decide to change and press the remote, so you can tuck it away into the door pocket or centre console and only reach for it if you need to.

Apparently Hawk pads give off a lot less dust than regular pads.
