I normally aerosol spray clear satin lacquer over the whole face to try and stop the crests corroding.
Works really well and obviously turns the gloss into satin finish.Do this ^

One of the first - delivered in November 2016.
Cheers. I've read they changed the manual gearbox from spring 2017...... so this welded 3rd gear issue has been eradicated?? Do you know if this is true?
Also, how is your progress? Any joy?

Quick update; managed to remove the stuck wheel.
Centre cap off, some WD40 onto the 3 hub lugs, cracked off wheel bolts (just), rocked car forwards / back a couple of times and hey voilà..... wheel came loose from hub.
Wheel fully cleaned - brake dust was pretty stubborn - then ceramic coated.
Hub lugs sanded / cleaned - with a little anti seize paste to prevent future issues.
Hub and caliper cleaned and waxed also.
Just the other 3 to do now.

Had my 718S since new, 44.5k on the clock. Yesterday, I lost all drive in 3rd gear. Everything else is fine, all gears selecting as normal, no noise, no leaks, just no drive in 3rd.
Any gearbox specialists in here?
What year is your manual 718S?

1 of 4 completed.
Couldn't get wheel off hub, sort of seized?
So, centre cap off, a little squirt of WD40, wheel bolts slightly loosened, drove back and forth - hey presto and wheel cracked off hub and came off.
(Just under 10k miles and I don't think they ever been off the car).
So, inner wheel barrel cleaned - it was pretty stubborn - Meguiars wheel cleaner and a soft brush - dried and prepped, then wheel ceramic coated. Caliper and hub a little clean, plus anti seize paste on the 3 hub lugs.
Job done.
But other 3 to do - another time..... I'm fooked, but happier. From this.....

There aren't any front drains as such, it's just a series of holes but yes I try to keep the frunk area clean of leaves etc...
Cheers. So no round rubber bungs in the frunk / either side of the battery tray like on the 987.2?
I've looked and cannot see - this must be why?

Blew my drains out.
I checked my rears and all clear - just poured water and it ran out quickly - but I think I'll try the air route to be sure.
Have you done the front / frunk drains?

Looks brilliant mate, you've got to be pleased with that 👍
Yeah a good result. The black coating is pretty tough it appears.

Eventually managed to clean the manky exhaust tips.
These have obviously never been cleaned in its 10k miles.
I tried gentle at first, with them being black - either ceramic coated black ir black chrome?. All my cleaning/ fallout / meths / turps / polish products no joy.
Browsing online forums the consensus was to respray high temperature black to restore.
So, I bought some 800°C paint in black, then set about preparing the surface ready to mask / spray. I used a dry scotch pad - didn't try this prior for fear of scratching when I just wanted to clean them originally - but hey presto it got the dried up crud off a treat. So I continued to use this and a polish after - they are 98% restored new. I ain't gonna sweat that they're not perfect - but a vast improvement and still OEM finish.
Paint returned for a refund.

Have owned my 718 GTS for a few months now *from a 987.2.
The 2.5L GTS with PSE.... either on or off sounds great imo. Yes not as much howl, but fab and growly.
The sound has added to its appeal for me.

If your budget allows go for a 987.2 from late 2009. Updated and improved reliability from the 987.1
I owned mine for 7 trouble free years. Servicing and one coolant pipe it was bullet proof.
The 2.9 drives very well and torquey enough. Get a 3.4S if you can stretch.

Howdy.
Had a great run out at the weekend. 2.5L GTS 2018.
Boost PSI pressure was up and down, as expected due to driving, load, speed etc.
My query is; I saw a maximum of 11PSI. Reading other 718 forums some say totally normal but others think a bit low..... and should be hitting 16 to 18 PSI on the GTS.
Anyone have any experience of the boost pressure values?
Cheers.

Last resort - loosen the wheel nuts slightly and drive gently. Try to keep the speed below 100mph.
Ok will try this method. Will 90mph be OK?
-
Howdy all.
Bit of a daft one. Wanting to fully clean the alloy wheel barrels and ceramic coat my wheels.
Jacked the car up and the wheel is properly stuck on the hub.
Apart from the obvious (lump hammer - don't fancy this tbh) is there another way to release the wheel? ie. WD40 in lug holes to free up from hub face).
Read that can loosen wheel nuts and roll car forward/ backwards to 'crack' the seal?
Cheers.

My mate has a new BMW and has to pay an extra 380 quid per year because the list price is over 40k. Its called luxury tax I think. Shocking.
After the luxury tax period - the 6th year - does the tax revert to the £180 (normal rate for years 1 to 6) or the amount based on emissions?

First proper day tidying up since I got in mid November.
Seat leather conditioned, my personal plates ditted, rear badge surround cleaned, polished and sealed (it was grubby for 10k miles - lack of correct washing / detailing in the past).
Wheels to ceramic later in the week.
(Sounds awesome, even from my garage to my drive). -
