How are you getting on with the GTS? I’m still not loving the F4 turbo compared to the F6. It’d be interesting to hear your thoughts compared to your previous car.

The sound is loud. Then PSE makes it louder. Pre-OPF so no noise reduction. I love it.

Plus the ease to drive quick due to low end torque. I'm very happy.

Yes I deliberated over F6 vs F4....... as I wanted a 981 S or GTS...... but manuals were very hard to find. I've been without a Boxster for 15 months looking for the right one. Seen many and rejected them for various reasons.

So I looked at the 4.0L 718 GTS...... and nearly bought a 23 plate new one from my local OPC....... also GR, but my sensible head could not justify the cost.... even though I could've afforded it and bought it.

So, my compromise...... the 2.5 F4 GTS....... the right car (most Importantly) and a good deal ....... plus it started up and sounded right.

4 weeks in, yes I definitely made the right decision..... love it. Balance of speed, power, noise, tech, interior, Boxster looks, low mileage and immaculate condition. I wanted GT Silver but GR it is again.

The newer 4.0L F6 would've cost a lot more in price, VED, insurance, fuel, depreciation. My 'compromise' for my budget works for me. Yes the purists and F6 brigade may not agree. But I love it. Plus it has the right options for me, plus others the previous owner has added. It's 'clean' and I'm fussy. So the right BGTS for me.

Compared to my previous 987.2 2.9 base Boxster...... but sounded lovely at 5k revs upwards...... this 718 BGTS is a huge upgrade. And yes a toy as a 4th car for me to use in summer time only.

    Win win so far.

No, it was quite a quick look as weather was closing in and I had nothing suitable to hand.

    .....

    A good thread and advice.

So are these the 2 drain holes under the canvas roof? And are there 2 (or 4) more in the frunk around battery panel area?

    Cheers.

Fabsil Gold = higher silicone content, more beading

Fabsil = lower silicone content, but has UV protection

BTW, the roof has three layers, the middle of which is the waterproof layer. The outer fabric doesn’t actually need to be waterproof, but I’m sure it helps to repel water and keep it cleaner.

Sounds about what I read. Cheers.

  4. I use Fabsil.... the regular type.....it's excellent for repelling water and keeping it looking new.

I remember reading a detailing forum along the lines that the Gold version has too much silicone in?

    If you believe that.

  5. Need to source the leak first.

Could just be one pipe / joint.

Had this happen on my 987.2 and replaced one coolant pipe - very easy via driver wheel arch. Pipe was £26 from OPC.

Lots of how to videos on the Web.

If you honestly don't care about engine sound and manual is the most important part of the engagement the 718 2.0 6 speed really isn't a bad shout, they are a great steer otherwise.

    I had a base 987.2.

It was nippy but want S or GTS now.

At one point I was speaking with a seller, his price seemed optimistic at best, a harsher term would be delusional.  The ad had that wording from the 70’s “first to see will buy”, he mentioned he’d had three viewers on it 😕

Yes I know. After either 981 or 718. S or GTS in manual. Tbh I'm leaning more to 718 from 2016.

I let go a (in hindsight perfect) 2017 7178 GTS 2 months ago, wish I'd bought it now.

So you spoken to the seller of this 2012 981 S?

Yes I agree, I cannot fathom £40k for an 11 year old model. It will no doubt require a lot ££££ in maintenance (coolant pipes, suspension, tyres, air con condensers etc possible, regular age related fixes).

Was the seller open to realistic offers? Or 'delusional' in that they expect to achieve that 'price'?

It’s nice, (but manual) - i prefer PDK

    got all the toys.

Not a fan of the wheels.

    price seems ok

I'm after manual. I was after newer 2015 to 2018 in S or GTS.

You think price is fair for a 2012?

There are at least 15 for sale on autotrader alone for you to base you assessment on the entire market.

I do like what the OPC is doing as an owner but someone will get burnt. Perhaps in the same way as what happened with the owner of the red one we were discussing, overpaid and now has to face the music.

The Cayman GTS seems to be priced below which is an oddity. (Although it's logical to me 🤣🤣🤣)

    PDK though.

    I'm after manual. Limited numbers.

This has been for sale for a few weeks… was on the classified thread I’m sure…

Advert says 1 owner - colour combo (carmine + tan) not for everyone … and needs a good scrub…. And a bit miley … but a manual GTS with OPC history and warranty to 2025… wonder what they actually want for it price wise…. 36?

Anyone close to Brighton to see in the flesh? To me there seems to be a rabbit off. Can't put my finger on it.

For reference I can't share it but another pdk car in carmine just popped up on one of the Facebook groups in Wales, 24k and asking price of £48k with a 2 yr OPC warranty.

Yes saw it just, tan interior? Looks like the right price, if only manual. Needing new discs mind.

    Cheers though.
