No chance 987 prices dip bellow 986's. Compare like for like (mileage, spec and condition) they aren't close. 

The composite top engine cover can be changed for the 987 aluminium version, it's a couple of kg lighter. 

It came with a plastic bracket, I cable tied the bracket to the bottom of the seat. Can reach under and pull it out easily but it's hidden away and not had to drill holes to mount it.

After having a fire in a Boxster and attempting to put it out with 2 600ml extinguishers, it's safe to say they are a waste of time. My thinking when buying small ones was they'd be alright to put a rear bumper or something similar, my car was turbocharged so I was expecting flames (have seen videos of a Lambo with a small fire on the rear bumper that burnt the whole car out). 

There seemed like it was about 10 seconds of action each with those small extinguishers. As it turns out, even the fire brigade couldn't put it out, they ran out of water and just let it go, a Boxster is a hard car to put an engine bay fire out on as they are sealed, you can't get to the fire. 

I've got a fire saftey stick now, clipped under the passenger seat. I'd just set it off, roll it under the car and hope for the best (thinking about it, I might keep something I could stuff into the side vents as that would help choke a fire).

I think the extinguishers Porsche sell are mainly for race car vibes rather than to do anything useful with.

Not too bad, Stanley blade either side to open the tabs and it pops apart.

I think the part is about £200 and probably an hours labour. Apparently no coding required. 

I opened mine up and cleaned the tracks on the circuit board up. 

They buy in the castings in, can't remember the manufacturer but they were decent, not Chinese ones.

Powerflex also offer complete suspension arms, running them on mine.

Definitely get the cover off the underside of the car and check, mine were really bad.
