    What's the "magic boost button"??

The round boost button on the steering wheel 4 o'clock.  It allows you to select Normal, Sports and Sports Plus options by turning the knob.  Push the button in the centre and it gives you 20 secs of extra turbo boost.

  2. I was lucky to get a Boxster Driving Experience for my birthday present this year and cannot recommend it enough.  Fabulous patient instructor took me through the high speed circuit, low resistance circuit, the watery skid pan and the "kick plate" experience as well as the launch control and braking straight. Well worth anybody's money.  The main lesson was to be SMOOTH in both steering, braking and acceleration in all circumstances, on road and especially on track.

A couple of quick asides that I learnt were that you don't have to be in Sports Plus to use launch control.  Just leave it in Normal and press the magic turbo boost button, then hard on the brake, floor the throttle and release the brake and off you go!  Another interesting feature was that if you leave the auto stop start button alone and the engine dies, perhaps at a junction, just slightly twitch the wheel to the right or left and the engine immediately starts up again!  Handy!

Replaced the awful N0 P Zero's on Skippy for Goodyear Asymetrics.  Am going to have to call the car something else now the Ackermann skip at half lock has disappeared, doesn't even do it at full lock.  Additional benefits is it's much quieter, grip in the damp and wet is in a totally different league.  When the tyres have done a few miles will see what it's like in the dry.

I liked Goodyears on the 986, just about as good as the Michelin Pilot Sports I also had but got twice the life out of the rears.  Thought I'd give them a whirl on the 981, mighty impressed so far.

I agree I had them on my 981 and they were MUCH quieter than the P Zeros and seemed to grip better in all conditions as well as being less "skippy".  Going to replace the P Zeros on my 718 this month with the Goodyear tyres ready for hopefully a European tour.

  4. Took mine in for its first 2 year/20k mile service in Portsmouth.  Very pleased with the outcome as I had a couple of warranty items that I wanted looked at.  First was the black exhaust tips that were looking a little worse for wear.  They agreed to replace them. The second one was a little strange.  One of the tensioning cords on the hood that appears to tighten the internal roof lining had become detached and although it wasn't really affecting the operation of the hood was just plain annoying. see picture below.  To my surprise they are going to replace the entire hood!  It seems they can't be sure what caused the tensioning cord to become detached and as it might have been a fault somewhere else in the hood mechanism they deemed that it was better to replace the hood.  Very good service even though they are just slowly coming out of lockdown and they also report a tracking problem with the front toe in that I need to get looked at.  Car now booked in for July for a couple of days with a replacement car supplied to enable them to carry out the work.  I just hope the guys fitting the new hood have done it before as I don't want them to practise on my car.😁Hxavfl7.jpg

  5. Took the cover off the car and backed it out of the garage and then gave it a good polish with Swissvax.  Looking gleaming now.  Then decided rather than put it straight back into the garage to give it a blast to out local supermarket to grab some essential bits and pieces.  Couldn't help but take the longer route home.  How I miss driving this car!!
