I had the same thing with my 718, I'd made the mistake of washing the car without a quick drive afterwards to dry the brakes.
Car was parked in the garage for over a week, I didn't think I'd left the handbrake on.
Put it in drive, car didn't move, more revs....nothing. No room to attempt to reverse. In the end I had to attach a tow rope and drag it out.
Lesson learnt

my fear with adblue is that it would happen a long way from home!
IE when I'd just driven 700 miles to a French mountain
-
I've got a Halfords low profile jack, I've used it on my 718 and would fit under my previous Caterham 7 and Lotus Elise with a ice hockey puck

I'd seen that youtube video before, what a pair of knobs...
I love my 718, compared to my previous 987.1S, the performance is leagues ahead. Far safer to overtake in the 718 and never noticed any turbo lag tbh
The F6 did sound a bit better when you were "making progress" but sounded like a sewing machine at 60-70 cruising.
Normal 718 bashing.... just like the online review autocar or auto express....spent the entire article sl*gging off the F4 engine and then said the 718 was the best sports car

Was there a message on the right hand side display about time before restart?
I seem to remember my 987.1 did this.
Just switch ignition off and restart.

I had a major service (4 years old) & MOT on my 718 in Sept 2020
Spark plugs & brake fluid change done as well
I was charged £976.31 at OPC Silverstone and the next service is free due to the spark plug issues they had with my car

I had CarPlay activated today and updated to 2022 maps on the nav unit. Sima did a fab job.
@moonshine he was impressed by the adapter you lent me😀

I contacted Sinisa (Aka @Simaservice1108) (found via 718forum) in Serbia on WhatsApp on +381 65 3086899
He remoted on to a laptop computer connected to the glovebox usb with ethernet adapters and reprogrammed the PCM 4.0 to activate the Apple Carplay (can do Android Auto as well) and did the map update.
Cheaper than buying a new car to get Carplay 👍🤣
Wow!

How did you get it to work??
-
Mine is a 16plate 718 (registered May 2016), the original owner spec'd satnav & speed camera warning but not car play. There is a USB socket in the glovebox that will connect to play music but nothing in the armrest.
I'm toying whether to add it (approx £1k dealer fit) or replace the car....
I've never tried to update the maps as I use a TomTom sat nav linked to my phone for realtime traffic.

Wow, I got that recall about two years ago iirc.
side intakes or front?? Or both?

To retrofit mesh filters to side air intakes, as discarded cigarettes, cigar and embers may cause a fire!

agree with above, put the sterring on full lock and check the coolant crossover pipes for leaks/weeping - can be expensive to replace!! (because the aluminium tubes get damaged and you'll generally want to change the radiators while it's in bits)
-
I can't imagine you could repair either unles you had another 718 bodyshell? Surely it'll be a insurance write off as the airbags have gone off?

Does that mean they've reverted to instructor in the car, rather than chasing another car?
My Son went a few weeks ago, instructor in car.

Fabulous patient instructor took me through the high speed circuit, low resistance circuit, the watery skid pan and the "kick plate" experience as well as the launch control and braking straight. Well worth anybody's money. The main lesson was to be SMOOTH in both steering, braking and acceleration in all circumstances, on road and especially on track.
A couple of quick asides that I learnt were that you don't have to be in Sports Plus to use launch control. Just leave it in Normal and press the magic turbo boost button, then hard on the brake, floor the throttle and release the brake and off you go! Another interesting feature was that if you leave the auto stop start button alone and the engine dies, perhaps at a junction, just slightly twitch the wheel to the right or left and the engine immediately starts up again! Handy!
What's the "magic boost button"??

DAB signal is cr*p, my 718 doesn't have it anyway but Skoda Superb does and it doesn't work on that most of the time!

I went to Waitrose last night, first time I'd driven it for months!

Mine has done 22k miles, I've owned it a year. From my pre-purchase research, they are very reliable.
I'd heard about the header tank/coolant sensor issue.

you should be able to get a deal on a pre-registered car, I would think it's highly unlikely on a new factory build car

Fitted the diode on Sunday....works a treat and the best 9 pence mode I've ever done

OMG never seen a 718 look so bad

the 987 on its roof is testament to how strong they are, does make you wonder the circumstances that led up to that
