  1. I had the same thing with my 718, I'd made the mistake of washing the car without a quick drive afterwards to dry the brakes.

Car was parked in the garage for over a week, I didn't think I'd left the handbrake on.

Put it in drive, car didn't move, more revs....nothing. No room to attempt to reverse. In the end I had to attach a tow rope and drag it out.:slap:

    Lesson learnt:wacko:

  2. I'd seen that youtube video before, what a pair of knobs...

I love my 718, compared to my previous 987.1S, the performance is leagues ahead. Far safer to overtake in the 718 and never noticed any turbo lag tbh

The F6 did sound a bit better when you were "making progress" but sounded like a sewing machine at 60-70 cruising.

Normal 718 bashing.... just like the online review autocar or auto express....spent the entire article sl*gging off the F4 engine and then said the 718 was the best sports car:woot:

  3. I had a major service (4 years old) & MOT on my 718 in Sept 2020

Spark plugs & brake fluid change done as well

I was charged £976.31 at OPC Silverstone and the next service is free due to the spark plug issues they had with my car:D

I contacted Sinisa (Aka @Simaservice1108) (found via 718forum) in Serbia on WhatsApp on +381 65 3086899

He remoted on to a laptop computer connected to the glovebox usb with ethernet adapters and reprogrammed the PCM 4.0 to activate the Apple Carplay  (can do Android Auto as well) and did the map update.

Cheaper than buying a new car to get Carplay  👍🤣

    Wow!

  5. Mine is a 16plate 718 (registered May 2016), the original owner spec'd satnav & speed camera warning but not car play. There is a USB socket in the glovebox that will connect to play music but nothing in the armrest.

I'm toying whether to add it (approx £1k dealer fit:blink:) or replace the car....

I've never tried to update the maps as I use a TomTom sat nav linked to my phone for realtime traffic.

Does that mean they've reverted to instructor in the car, rather than chasing another car?

My Son went a few weeks ago, instructor in car.

I was lucky to get a Boxster Driving Experience for my birthday present this year and cannot recommend it enough.  Fabulous patient instructor took me through the high speed circuit, low resistance circuit, the watery skid pan and the "kick plate" experience as well as the launch control and braking straight. Well worth anybody's money.  The main lesson was to be SMOOTH in both steering, braking and acceleration in all circumstances, on road and especially on track.

A couple of quick asides that I learnt were that you don't have to be in Sports Plus to use launch control.  Just leave it in Normal and press the magic turbo boost button, then hard on the brake, floor the throttle and release the brake and off you go!  Another interesting feature was that if you leave the auto stop start button alone and the engine dies, perhaps at a junction, just slightly twitch the wheel to the right or left and the engine immediately starts up again!  Handy!

    What's the "magic boost button"??
