Whereabouts in Cheshire do you hail? We have a run out tomorrow morning from Wilmslow at 7am . See thread in Trackdays etc.

I'm in Warrington so not far away at all, but unfortunately I'm busy tomorrow so can't make it.

Thanks for the invite, maybe catch you next time.

These look great, I want to get my lobster claws refurbished and I’m leaning towards black even though everyone is telling me to stick with silver for the black car!

Thanks, I was in two minds whether to change the colour or go with black again, but I think the all black look works and makes the callipers stand out. Plus I asked my daughters and they said definitely black 😀

Ok chaps... I got the ignition barrel out the dash to check the ignition switch.. and.. I don't think this is one of the "troublesome" ones which is easily or cheaply replaced? Looks light a later design and I guess everything is buried within that black case??

So.. with me still only having 10v at the Relay board it has to be a bad/broken earth somewhere between the dash and the Relay board, but not being up to speed with Boxster wiring I don't know what lives between the two?

Could it be that the climate panel has gone a bit "dodgy" and although it's working internally the earth is broken coming out the back of it?

I did have to replace the lower panel when I got the car to get the spoiler working at the back as that button was dead....

    Cheers

These things are easy to replace, but as you say are not cheap. I had mine replaced last year after it started acting up, well not starting to be more precise.

They are not coded to the car, so are interchangable and the lock barrel is actually blank, you can put any key in it and it will turn, it works by reading the chip in the key head.

I think they are like this from 987 onwards.

Recently I've been furiously washing my headlights after finding the button on the wiper stalk! :D

Just found the headlight washer button, I've only had the car 3 years, thanks @BOB.T  😀

Must admit I thought it auto washed like it did on my BMW's... every day is a learning day.

Nope, my car doesnt have this 3rd socket :(

I think they only appeared in the 987.2, my 987.1 doesn't have a socket in the footwell.

The TomTom adapters I have fit okay in both my cigarette socket and the one under the armrest, very odd

Maybe the indie was touting a little?

It was the "might as well do the shocks" comment that surprised and disappointed me in equal amounts

There are no rattles from the suspension and it seems to ride just fine.

  7. Thanks guys, looking at the overall price and having looked at the cost of the shocks then the total of £2700 is not outlandish depending on whether the shocks actually need doing. They did say the cost included alignment.

So somewhere between £500 and £1000 for the pipes will cover it.

  8. Took my 987 in for a service last week to an indie that I have not used before, as my usual indie is not available at the moment.

When I went to collect the car the chap I spoke to said there were an number of advisories that needed attending to including front coolant pipes, top shocker mounts at the front and in his words you might as well put some new shocks on while your there, a comment which did fill me with dread as it's got PASM.

They quoted me £2700 for the work but other than breaking the cost down into parts & labour didn't offer any other details, though I have asked for clarification.

So my question is to those who have had the job done, what can I expect to pay for the coolant pipe replacement as this seems to be the most urgent job?

  9. Found water behind my passenger seat yesterday 😨

No idea where it got in as the the trombone cleaner usually works it's magic. Don't know how long it's been doing it, the car usually lives in the garage but that is full of Westfield's at the moment, so it's been on the drive over winter. It doesn't look like it's been raining in for long, but still a worry.

The carpet is wet at the bottom of the firewall, dryer towards the seat, will have to do some more investigations today

    Fingers crossed
