Think it's a funky torx bit, couldn't get my MAF off either with the anti tamper bits I had. From looking into it I believe it's a 5 point anti-tamper TS20 or TS25, regular torx bits are 6 points.

They are actually known as security pentalobe bits.  Search for them on amazon.  That’s where I got my set from.

    Thanks guys, good info :thumbsup_still:

  2. Cleaned the throttle body as the tick over was a little lumpy, was going to clean the MAF too, but non of my torx bits would fit the screws. Maybe different from the 986 which fitted no problem?

Repainted the heater control switches with the kit from @jnwright71 which I've had for some time but never got round to doing, looks much nicer now.

Replaced the clutch interlock microswitch which I had bypassed last year as it was acting up, it is literally only 2 bolts, a 6mm one holding the bracket and a 3mm screw fixing the switch to the bracket... it almost killed me working in the footwell upside down.

Did you take the opportunity to mount screens in the cooling intakes in the bumper cover? You can make them yourself or pay big bucks for ones already made.

It did cross my mind but ran out of time yesterday, looking at the amount of junk in there it would be a very good idea, leaves, sweet papers and crisp packets etc.

Those fans must really have some pull as the fins were totally plugged in places, I'm surprised it didn't overheat in the hot weather.

Hi - do you have a link to what you ordered?  This is a job I have to get done too.

    Cheers,

    Mike.

I went for the cheap and cheerful approach as the OE resistor is £115 + vat on Design 911 and requires removal of the fan to fit.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008MLL3JQ/ref=pe_3187911_189395841_TE_3p_dp_1

It's a little fiddly but no too bad, essentially the 3 wires are Green, Green/White and White. Solder the Green/White and White cables to one end of the resistor and the solid Green to the other.

It even fits in one of the original clips

Don't give up on it too quickly!

My car came with the hardtop option.  Yes, the car does look different with it installed, but I've come to like the look of the hardtop.   I live in Seattle with a climate very similar to yours and I find the hardtop is a VERY nice option during the 6 to 8 rainy/cool months we have every year.  The hardtop keeps the car very snug and dry inside.

I've had a number of non-Porsche people ask me "What kind of car is that?" when I've had the hardtop on.  It certainly gives the car a different look.

@S8ked is right, don't be too hasty the hard top is like having three different cars in one, roof, hood and topless. The car is very different in all three, and as said, it does provoke a certain amount of interest from people who can't make out what the car is.

I just got back from a trip to Seattle, it's a long way to go for three days, but the surrounding countryside is stunning, would be a very nice place to driver the Boxster ?

@Grizzlee, any pictures of before and after? If you got it done at a bodyshop, would you be kind enough to disclose how much this cost?

@myfirstboxster - that's...bright :) What colour is your car? Zanzibar or Guards? I'm inclined to say the former...

No pictures I'm afraid, don't think it's stopped raining long enough to get any decent snaps of the result.

I did get it done at a body shop, they charged me £150 all in, which I think is pretty reasonable.
