  1. Boxster in to Dick Lovett OPC Swindon today for the recall work.  The now standard video walk around with the car on the ramp has flagged up that both aircon condensers are damp.  I have not checked if the aircon is actually still working.  Anyway, they are going to advise on price tomorrow when I pickup.

What is the wisdom on here.  Keep gong until is stops.  The get an indy to do it.

Does anyone have to hand a list of all the parts needed to do the job on a 981?

  2. Just have just had a call from OPC Swindon.  My 981 booking for the recall work was booked for 2/3 Dec, it has now been cancelled as they have not had delivery of the necessary parts from Porsche.  At present they have no ETA but are hoping for 3-4 weeks. I have been provisionally rescheduled for the 22/23 Dec.

  3. I got email for OPC Silverstone asking if I had got a better price for my Boxster.  I have told them I did not feel I was treated as a valued customer last weekend and asked for my personal details to be removed from their client databases

  4. Thanks for all your comments.  I think what really put me over the edge was the fact that they had not even bothered to get the car out for me to view in daylight and drive.  It was a £63K car. They had taken my car details, I specifically pre-asked for a price to change the day before and made an appointment to view.   I had foolishly assumed that it would be outside and I would take it for a test drive.

All the sham on the trade-in pricing; ie. both tapping on computers was really pathetic.  They had my details 24hr in advance and still I sat there expectantly for 10-15min.

By comparison, OPC Bournemouth offered £2k more trade-in over email on a £10k less Boxster GTS.   I have another unseen offer of £3.5k more from a Sportscar specialist.

Another got email details for Porsche GB.

  5. Visited OPC Silverstone, nr. Towcester on Saturday.  I had made an appointment on the Friday with one of the sales reps. I initially showed interest in a 719 GTS via a web form by entering my details. Contacted by sales rep by email but insisted he spoke to me on the phone and took all the information again.  I said I wanted a price to change from my fully loaded Boxster (details on another tread) when I come in.  Gave them the reg, mileage, told him the WBAC offer etc... Ask lots of boring questions about finance etc...

Anyway, showed up on Saturday in the Boxster,  the car I was interested in was up in their 1st floor showroom, 3 cars in deep.  I said I wanted to drive it, not having driven an GTS,   no that would only be possible if I bought it !!!.  "To expensive to prep for the road" were his exact words.   Anyway he could not be bother to engage in conversation, eyes only for his laptop bashing keys, he  looked at my car, got his boss to look at my car.  More tapping from both of them on laptops, asked again for the reg and if I wanted finance.  All that to be offered £24k for my car !!  I had already told them WBAC at it a £27.2k. I was not treated as a valued customer at any time during my visit to this outfit, and if I get the Porsche GB call back I will tell them.  I am looking forward for the salesman call back this week!!!

    Rant over...

  6. Thanks for the feedback and the mileage comments,  it's good to get a reality check. It is in very good nick, ready to retail.  I machine polished and ceramic coated it earlier in the summer.  Not a chip on the front. PZero's and pad 3k miles ago.  Might ask Ashgood what they value the car at.

  7.

Got a very nice White/Red roof Boxster, 2.7L, Reg 28th Dec 2012, 34,000 miles, full service, 1 previous owner.  Owner for past 3 years.  I got offered £27.5K against a GTS.  WBAC quoted £26.5k,  cannot find another one with this spec for under £36k.  I am not really very serious after changing, I  just wanted to test the market to see what it would be to change. I might have been tempted it they came back with a figure close to £30k.  Maybe I was in dreamland.  Thoughts ?

  8. @Moospeed - I actually traded it in at DIck Lovett's last summer for a 488GTB .

I have order some updated brake pedal bushes from Design 911.  I don't have the confidence to change them myself.  Anyone near to Oxford.

  9. Thanks for all the help. I did have the heater on full for the whole drive (1hr).   So in order of probability.  Would an iCarSoft scan distinguish any of these.

    Brake Pedal Bush

    Brake Switch

    Coils

    Battery

Can anyone help with part #'s

  10. Thanks, I don't have a code reader,  would anyone like to recommend one that works well on 981's

I also get Auto Start/Stop deactivated message.  I guess it is all related.  I was out for about 90min with the top down and the heater on full.

  11. My 981 threw this on the way home today.  I stopped after a bit and cycled the ignition on and off.  It cleared but after the first bits of bumpy road it triggered again.

I don't have a code reader, any suggestions.
