  1. Hi, yes I did. I no longer have a Boxster, but from more I did post the fault. It was the large dia connection. Tubes, can't remember the name sorry, that wend from the throttle body, it wasn't correctly connected on the underside so was drawing air. I found it by using a mirror on a rod to see underside. Reconnected it with a little help of washing liquid and problem solved. Hope that helps.

  2. Hi Hainsey, I've used the MX 5.0 for 3 years with no issues what so ever, car garaged over winter and if in garage for more than a week.  However my Boxster has always been a 'Lazy' starter, slow turn over but always fired up straight away. This always worried me a bit if I was parked far from home, but started every time. I have had alternator and battery checked 3 times and always show both in good condition. Not sure that helps, hopefully a bit.

  3. Car in for MoT today, but disappointing as paddef with one advisory, had it checked over at a different garage who didn't raise any potential advisories. Advisory is "Rear offside direction indicator slightly discoloured (4.4.3 (a)). Annoying as I make a point of keeping on top of things, can't remember last time any of my cars failed or had advisories.

Anyway had brake fluid change and gear box (manual) oil changed as well. Get car back tomorrow.

  4. My cables went March last year, I bought a set for I think around £300, receipt is in files and I can get them tomorrow if you need to know where I bought them from. I have started to use a local garage who do regular car work and they restore classic sports cars. Coincidently one of his mechanics had just changed the cables on his 986 Boxster so he had him do mine. Dropped car off in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon, all good for just over £500 (£300 + £218 for work).

  5. Taxed her, set tyre pressures and went for a wee drive around town, winter break over a bit earlier this year. Lovely sunny day with roof down.

I looked at milage over the past couple of years, 5k 2019, just over 1k 2020, hope lockdown eases soon and get a decent milage during spring and summer this year.

  7. I put everything back together today, including new air filter. Old one was just a year old, 6k miles, but as I had engine cover off and euro parts had 37% off I replaced it.

Anyway car started OK, fast idle seemed a bit erratic, took it for a spin to warm engine up, seemed to drive well with no issues, however when idling it soimds and feels a bit rough. Ticks over at around 800rpm but needle fluctuating by around 100 rpm.

Any thoughts? Could I have damaged something or maybe kinked a vacuum pipe? It would be good to have some pointers before I remove the engine cover again.

    Thanks

  8. Got the vacuum pipe on. Bit embarrassing in the end, after a lot of reading what others have done and removing cabin panel to remove the alternator I had a closer look at the pump and it actually slide up and out making it easy😡😡. Took a bit of effort but it did lift out. The large short pice of hose to the throttle body has been tougher but think its almost there, I have put it on and just need to pick up a mirror to check it's on all the way around.

  9. Looks like that is what it is and best access to the change over valve is by removing the alternator.

Another problem I am having it getting the throttle body and cross over back on. On the 987 the tube linking these looks longer that on a 986. there is a single stud and bolt with holds the throttle body in place and I cant get it lined up - back to it tomorrow and try again. just as well car is off the road for the winter 🤣🤣

  10. Hi folks, I removed the intake on top of the engine to get to the starter motor. There is a small bore hose which went down into the engine area, looks like it should not be connected, but I'm not sure. It is seen in the pictures with end arrowed.

Any advice on whether end with yellow band should be connected to something?

    Thanks

  11. Can't tell you!!!! I normally do them maybe twice a year, last time was a clean up after my grandson spilt some coke on the passenger seat. I would normally condition them before putting off the road as garage can be dry and wouldn't want to risk any drying out. There is a dehumidifier in the car as well while in garage.

  12. New front springs put on last week and 4 wheel alignment. Today oil and filter change, wheels off cleaned and polished. Car washed and C2 v3 liquid coat. Now in garage, C-Tek plugged in and covered until March. I'll clean and condition seats soon, no hurry as they were done about 6 weeks ago.

  13. Ordered Zunsport centre grill and changed oil & filter ready for going back on the road next Sunday. Had planned leaving the car in the garage until April but need to use the garage to store new kitchen for a few weeks, so car needs to come out, if it's out of the garage I'm as well using it.

    Hope this helps

Thanks that looks good, guess it's just as easy to fit as outside ones? I'll order it today.

Fitted a 'Mr12Volt' bluetooth device in place of my CD changer. Super simple to install (after I realised you don't have to remove all of the frunk plastics) and works brilliantly, great bt streaming quality and phone good too.

I ran the mic through the driver side fiewall grommet and mounted it next to the steering column. Wanted to keep the original stereo look with a bit more functionality and this has proved to be the perfect solution!

Sounds like the exact method I used just over a year ago. I've been very happy with it.

  15. Removed water pump, thermostat housing and thermostat, Serpentine belt tensioner and pulley. Just waiting delivery if new parts. Anyone have a picture of the coolant bleed vent position on a 987.1 2006 S? I think I must be starting straight at it but can't see it!!
