I noticed a distinct change in induction noise when I fitted my K&N filters. They seem to have bedded in now, or maybe I've just got used to the noise!
See if these have the same effect on yours!

Reader, I bought it😀
Many thanks to @Madlil who was a pleasure to deal with. Hope you’re enjoying the F type.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread as it was an exceptionally useful source of opinions and made the decision to go for this car very easy. First proper drive today and it feels like a great place to be. No idea how all the toys and buttons work yet, but I’ll get the hang of it eventually.
The only real departure from the general consensus here was that this did not have PSE, but given what it does have I wasn’t going to let that get in the way, particularly as it has the Carnwal GT exhaust which on first impressions I think I’m going to like. It probably helps that I’ve come from a 986 with a ToyoSport exhaust and manifolds, so I’ve done the noise thing. I can always retrofit if I change my mind.
The cat is out of the bag!

This thread should be renamed to 'What has Mick done to his 991 today' 😂

It's a sweet shift in the 981, made even better if you put in a Porsche short shifter (easy DIY job).
You can beat nailing a perfect heal and toe shift!
If you get one with sports crono, it will rev match for you in Sports Plus, which, although it feels like cheating, is pretty special!

Not today but yesterday I had the dreaded flat battery 😩 Self inflicted really as I had robbed the plug off my ctek and forgotten to replace it and put the car on trickle💩
Now after a bit of head scratching and internet research I tried to get in the car, fortunately it wasn’t locked but the window wouldn’t drop but I did manage to open the passenger door. Happy days I thought, pop it on the ctek and I’m back in business? No the ctek wasn’t having it in the cigar lighter, just wouldn’t charge 🤔 So I needed to get to the battery but the drivers wouldn’t open with the window up so I couldn’t access the fuse box to do the jump trick. I decided there must be an emergency cable for the bonnet and found a foreign video online demonstrating it but it was a left hand drive car and the cable was on the left hand side. I decided the rhd must be on the right and even checked online “yes it is on the drivers side of a rhd car” after removing the wheel and stripping the wheel arch I can confirm it is on the passenger side of our right hand drive cars!!🤬 I eventually managed to pop the bonnet after doing the same on the passenger side and accessing the battery. I thought I’m on the home straight here! Nope it appears my battery is Donald ducked so a new one is on order!
The moral of the story is keep your battery charged and don’t pinch the plug like I did, also I’m not sure what you would of done if the locking wheel bolts would have been fitted as the key bolt would have been in the front boot 😩
Thanks for the reminder.
**quickly hurries off to plug ctek in**

Always liked the sound of the Carnewal I put on my 987.
Presume you will be fitting it yourself Mick?

I use a lot of Bilt Hamber products on my 981 and daily. They are superb and I've used them for nearly 2 decades. It says alot given the saturated 'Detailing' market presently. 👍
Auto Foam is a superb pre-wash/ Snow foam item and the double speed wax is simply superb.
Love bilt hamber products.
Their 'touch less' snow foam is even better than Auto Foam, try it next time!

Just my two penn'orth, PSE is a must. Don't worry about the valves failing, which they all do at some point. My are permanently fixed open with some shaft collars on the actuators.
Drone is not a problem at all, especially for a weekend toy. Even when driving 1600 miles across Europe it wasn't a problem!

Guys how much would it cost to add a sports exhaust and the button for it on my 981s?
Would you recommend me going to Porsche to get this done or a Indy?
also will this affect my extended warranty if it was done by a indy?
No stock of Porsche Sports Exhausts at the moment! @Stuart21UK and some others have had Top Gear exhausts fitted with promising results. Sure they will give you more info!

I have noticed a lot of heat seems to pump out from the back wheel arches. Seems to be much more noticeable than with my old 987.
Glad I'm not the only one!

At least you can move it to open if it's not seized and get them to replace it when you are back 🙃

link to these collars please.
Bigger hammer didn't work but I shall persist.
Presume you are soaking them in lots of Plusgas or similar?

These are the collars I used. Think there are cheaper ones on amazon etc but these are SS so shouldn't corrode etc.

Worse case scenario!
I've fixed mine in the open position using some shaft collars, works well. Doesn't really seem to be any drone when on the motorway etc either.

Where as Sport+ on manual gives you rev matching on down shifts. I can adequately heel/toe but the rev matching the car does is really fun as sounds spectacular on a hard drive.
It's very impressive isn't it.
I enjoy trying to nail a good heal and toe but must admit the rev matching is great fun!

I need to find someone with PIWIS local to me, the stop-start bugs the hell out of me on both cars.
You mean not everyone presses sport plus before even starting the engine 🙄

Removed, scrubbed and re-oiled the air filters. BOY they were grubby !
Also vacuumed out the intake pipes of leaves and debris.
Do you have BMC or K&N?
Considering getting some for mine, any feedback? I'm not expecting any power gains, but maybe more induction noise? How often do you clean them?
No MAF on the 981 to clog up with oil either.

Part ordered from Porsche, should be here tomorrow.
The parts guy tried telling me the knob and surround need changing at the same time, I presume this is not the case @mneil?
Asked for a discount and got it down to £210 inc vat, same as you paid 2 years ago!
