Where are you based, if not too far I'm sure we could meet and come to an agreement over the remaining control arm, as I intend to do my rear end too at a later date.
I have a spare JCT1619, is that what you're after. If so where are you based?

One for the nice to have list for now.
Design 911 are charging 800 for these in Black. Some other colours are cheaper ... for now. So you really need to want one badly for that price.

In the 986 [and 996] the overall circumference of the tyre is very similar front to rear and I think this is because of the spare wheel. Once Porsche ditched spare wheels they stopped making circumference match. On the 987 the 17 inch option has close or similar circumference front to rear but on the 18 and 19 there is roughly an inch in overall diameter difference. Rears being bigger. So the 986 spare will be maybe OK on the front of 18 and 19 inch cars but no good for all the others - 18 and 19 rear and 17 front and 17 rear. Unless you're happy driving with wheels across one axle with an inch difference in overall diameter. Yes it's only temporary and is probably OK to get you home but I'd rather call the breakdown truck. You could maybe try to get a different taller tyre fitted to the 986 spare if you're running the 17 option and this could work. Worth remembering that any 986 spare will now be at least 20 years old if it's original [some are 26 years old] and I wouldn't fancy driving on a 20 year old space saver tyre.

Very little use and 'minor' wear to driver's bolster. Methinks not. Still not light grey though - Phew!
Not sure light grey was an option for the 987, so I may be safe.
Black works with any colour. Just get black.

I ordered a new stalk for my 996 in a moment of madness at the OPC while getting other bits. I've been waiting now for 6 weeks and it's still not arrived. So maybe I'll try stripping down the old one anyway.
I had to chase the OPC but its finally arrived and was really quite well packaged. I am disappointed the wipers dont have the badge piece thing clipped on. Feels a bit penny pinchy to Me. It was very well packaged though.

Just been doing a bit of browsing and I have seen that a few people have done this modification. Apart from saving about 1.5 kg in weight I can’t really see any advantage apart from cosmetically being minimalistic. It can’t give you any more legroom , I can’t see it giving you any more knee room, not that any more is needed as far as I’m aware. Is it purely choice with no real advantage?
Am I missing something?
Does your left shin or calf touch the centre console at all. This should tell you all you need to know.

Looking at those pics, the 987 seat back seems to sit differently against the engine firewall, at least on the passenger seat? I have just checked and hadn’t appreciated how close my head was to the soft top or how the top of the drivers seat sat Inside the hoop!
The 9x7 seat is much more substantial. It is heavier. I believe it uses different density foam too. Not different to the 9x6 but different to itself so multiple foam density in the one seat. I think the back rest is taller too so if you place a 9x6 seat next to a 9x7 seat it will be taller. In my 986 if you are folding the 9x7 seat forward it hits the roof unless it is on its lowest settings.
Having said all that it is more comfy. It gives more legroom by being lower. It gives more legroom by sitting you further back also. It is just all round better, better and better.

@ATM were the front and rear the same coffin arms, and did you do the control arms too?
No
And
No
This was what I used for the rear. It's a standard 9x6 type arm with the smaller bush. First I bought a 2nd JCT1619 before I realised they don't fit.
Then a few months later I had an incident on the motorway involving some standing water, the grass verge and a signpost.
So I had to replace the rear left suspension because it was all scrap. I still have a spare rear control arm. Car is all sorted now.

You can see the part number stamped on the arms but not sure it helps. I did a search for JCT1619 and it brought up the similar part number to the one you had above - 991 341 053 01 - link below. I'm assuming you know the last 2 numbers are the version number so all parts with different version numbers should be interchangeable. If I was you I'd buy the 981 part and not the 987 part if possible. It's worth saying that the 991 part number didn't exist before the 981 was made. So its possible that the JCT1194 part number relates to the 997 specific part - assuming these earlier parts had 997 stamped onto them and not 991. And when this was replaced or superceded with the 991 part they also changed their JCT part number. So they might have different part numbers but are still the same. Does this make sense?

Perhaps I'm your man. I changed coffins on the passenger side only - so front and rear. This was about ... checked the exact date ... Sep 2018. I had trouble sourcing the replacement for the front at the time as I didn't understand it is the same part as the 9x7 which I now believe to be true. Anyway here you can see the arm I removed next to the replacement and a pic of the TRW part I used - JTC1619.

Exactly what we have all said, everyone who has tried it. The advice I got was to stick to the standard 9x7 seats as they are much more comfy than the 9x7 sports seats. They are way way cheaper too. Everyone with a 9x7 car with standard seats seems to want the sports so we get to scoop up their old standard seats for our 9x6 cars.

I bought an OEM part from elsewhere
Part number is 99654207604 but this is driver side

Heads up
Some car insurance includes key cover. If you lose a key they will replace. If it's a specific key care type cover then there should be no excess and no effect on your no claims bonus.
A few years ago I spent a fortune replacing a car key. My car was left stranded in a field at a festival. It took 3 days for it to come home. We had to smash a window to get our house keys out of the car and so then BMW had to replace the window and the regulator. Then I found out there was key cover included in my insurance but they wouldn't pay as it had been over 6 weeks since and I had not claimed. Lesson learnt.
So check if your insurance includes key cover. Then if you happen to lose a key - somehow - they will replace it FOC.

You don't need to. Just ask for parts and if they are for an old car you obviously get the classic discount.

As long as the car is good, that's all that matters. Buy the car not the seller.
For me, the hunt is the best part, I too usually get bored soon after.
I was hunting for over 5 years for a 986 and when I finally bought one I could stop looking. I told myself no more hunting once I have one. And so far so good. I'm not looking at any more 986 cars for sale, I promise.

Exactly what I was trying to show in the side by side pic. Assuming old arm coming off the car was original from Porsche factory. You can even see TRW stamp on the ball joint. Later revisions may have been manufactured elsewhere as I believe the TRW are now impossible to find. Ideally we need to ask some of the 718 lads to get pics of their car's arms.
