My last 986 had this smell in the boot, turned out to be a cracked tank.

Taking the bottom hose off is not hard or an issue putting it back on is
-
Update on this is I've done the job but can say the bottom clip is really bad and nearly impossible to do even with the correct cable pliers, I bought a full kit off ebay for £40 and with every type of pliers for different clips, the issue is just space.. very very tight.. so Pelican parts sell the bottom clip with a special plastic clip attached to it, you then pull the clip out once in place , still not foolproof for me as you only get one shot at getting it on correctly, probably took me 3 attempts even with the correct tool
-
So what size cable pliers do I need , I'm going to do this job, I've just done my Haldex pump on my Range rover and the bolts on that with out a lift was the hardest job I've ever done so won't let a clip on a rubber hose stop me

Hi all was going to do the AOS but decided to put it off until I get the correct cable pliers for the spring on the bottom rubber as I watched a video and they said that's the hardest clip to get off and on, can anyone point me to a good set of cable pliers for the clip , I'm unsure about the size of pliers I need , any help guys

So he can snap a photo of the screen and send it to you by whatsapp or similar.
This is what's the refusal says ,
Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd idle outside specified limits (8.2.1.2) C
-
The Mot station have said they have tried and still can't get it through emissions so they will scan it and try and see which lambda sensor as there are 4, even though there is no EML on.. or it could be the cats, they have said that they can't see any leaks from the exhaust.. I asked again about the paperwork for emissions and he said his machine has stopped printing but I think it should still show you it is out and what's failed.. has anyone else had this problem
.

"If the vehicle fails the emissions test, a copy of the result print out must be given to the customer. The VTS must keep a readily retrievable record of the result for 3 months."
That's what's bothering me I thought that

When mine failed for Lamda it was due to failing exhaust joints letting oxygen in and upsetting the readings. Might be worth checking for leaks before changing sensors.
Thanks mate I'm having new tyre's put on today and there going to try the emissions again will ask them to check, it's got the oem exhaust on from new so over 20years old

Hi all , had to use a new mot station as I've moved to Wales, car failed on Lambda emissions to high, the thing Is when I asked how much it failed on they said there wasn't any paperwork just that it's failed, is that correct? , I dont want to get arsey with them yet, they then sold me some stuff to put in ya tank and go and give it some right foot, I've looked at a old mot from 2021 and it shows it passed on 1.028, and max limit was 1.030 only just passed , if I change Lambda would you recommend changing all 4

Hi all just wondering what was the new price of my 986 back in year 2000
-
Absolutely nothing to worry about, mine does this same noise on cold start up and as said will be either cam chain tensioner rattle or hydraulic lifter filling
-
Thanks pal ,
-
I'm just starting to get a noise out of the front wheel bearings, what's the job like to do yrself , do I need a puller for the bearings, is there a kit you can buy
Thanks Andy

You might wont to look at my recent post regarding this as I have the same issue with water some how getting past the pollen filter and water in the passenger side footwell, so I've taken the carpet out of the front to try and track were its coming in , the only thing I can come up with, if my car if faced downhill and it rains alot I get wet passenger side carpet, if I turn the car the other way around bonnet facing uphill there is no water , I dont understand it either
-
Cheers guys so with the passenger carpet out its wet in a specific place , so back left of the carpet, now last time i took the carpet out I could see it leaking in down the back of the carpet , so not the door cards, but still difficult to track down
-
I've had issues under the pollen filter before with water underneath it and found the pollen filter wet but after drying and getting all the water from underneath it this time it was dry but carpet still wet,
-
Hi all I cant work out were the waters coming in I've got the carpet fully out so I can see when it rains , can someone show me a pic of all the drain holes it's doing my head in

Cheers
