If l leave mine outside for a while I always turn my heating fan off so the flap is always closed under the pollen filter.
Was the pollen filter itself wet?Depending how you park, slope wise, water can still find its way in as the plastic cover isn’t great.

The pollen filter wasn't wet but there was s fair bit of water in there,  I will ensure I turn the fan off never thought of that before

  2. That old chestnut again,  passenger side carpet wet, cant work out were its coming from , is it blocked drain ways, happened last year same side, if I remove the cabin filter and put my hand right inside theres water down there so dryed that out , any help guys

  3. Ok picked up the part from Douglas valley this morning £48 ensuring it was for a manual and correct part number,  I would say the job Is not hard just tricky , I ensured I lined the front wheels up and marked the steering wheel and nut with a black line to get the wheel perfectly were it came off, didn't expect it to work but just been down the road and indicators turn off as they should do.. and will have to go another run to see if the steering wheel is 100% straight with the tyres,  checked codes with Foxwell NT530 and no faults, airbag light goes out after I think 3 seconds after turning key on, I'm not sold yet until say a few weeks have past with out any airbag light on, fingers crossed all is good

I change a lot of clock springs.

The wires on them are extremely brittle due to the age and it is most likely a tiny break / kink in the wire that has caused it to come on.

Leave it for now and see what happens.

If it comes on again, it is a very easy job to change them.

Airbag light back on yesterday so definitely looking at changing the clock spring , will take a look at it today , plenty of second hand units about

  5. Thanks for the update,  I can recommend the Foxwell NT530 it's not bad on price around £190 , I could of got it alot cheaper but mainly from china and I was concerned about being ripped off and clones   ,,  evidently someone will correct me but they said the Foxwell Nt530 does around 80% of what a durametric does

  6. Hi all, so ive just scanned my 986 with the Foxwell NT530 as i have the airbag light on, it gave me the codes, 03 Airbag warning supply and 21 Ignition circuit driver, i belive the number 21 is the clock spring unde the steering whell airbag, so ive cleared the codes and expected the fault to jump straight back up but after switching the ignition on the airbag went out within the correct time and after an hours run has stayed off, im 100% sure it will relight , any thoughts on this

    thanks

  7. Hi all while i wait for my scanner to come ive been reading up on the Seatbelt buckle can make the airbag light come on, can anyone shed any light on this please and if so what do you change , also is there a how to check my steering wheel airbag with a multimeter once i get the steering wheel off

    Thanks

iCarsoft V1.0 POR will clear air bag codes and ABS as well as all the usual OBD functions, about £100.  Depends if that is all you want to do on how much to spend.  Remember OBD is for engine/emissions related only generally speaking.

Looking at the information on that scanner it states that it will not clear 986 air bag codes..

  9. I can recommend Motor developments in Blackpool,  really good , years back they took my RS Turbo,  Ford, from 136bhp to 181bhp but that's only cus it's a Turbo

  10. ok for no reason today my 1999 986 air bag light came on , so I've got an old Autel Maxscan that i used for my VW and Audi , it will connect with OBD and says its connected but reads no faults, so evidently wont read it, it has read it in the past when i had a coil pack issue, so what do people recommend for a scanner, so they Foxwell NT530 comes up as a good Porsche scanner

    Thanks

£5 says it is the tuning forks.  Is it a sort of click/rattle a bit like snooker balls rattling in the tringle when you set them up?

Changed one side today with new Spider coffin arm and 1 tuning fork and noise gone  , did that side coffin as the rubber was split   ,, gona do the other side next week
