Just noticed this.  Wow. A 997.2S is much more than a 981 GTS?  My suspicion is you have way better value for money!

By the way, you must be still in denial/trauma, if you've posted a goodbye in the 987 forum, rather than a hello in the 981 forum!

I wasn't clear I guess. I could have got a 997.2S for 'similar' money. However, it would have been a very early Gen 2, 2008/9 if lucky, not very well specced at all, some with questionable history, higher mileage and only 3 years newer than my 987S. So the 981GTS made more sense (in my mind) - 2015, under 40k miles, very well specced and I ended up getting a pretty good deal all in all.

Lol'd at your other comment! I couldn't say hello in the 981 forum as I don't have one of these!....

  2. After 19 months and just over 17k miles, I said goodbye to my 987S yesterday.

Had some great times and thoroughly enjoyed my ownership but I had been hankering for something newer over the last couple of months. So I managed to trade in for this..

    2015 981 GTS.

This was not my first choice, as I was really looking for a Gen2 997S, however the jump in spends was just a bit too much. But I'm enjoying it immensely so far, though have only had it since yesterday.

I've got a few bits and pieces from the 987 that I will be listing up for sale so as to make some space in my garage.

Thanks for all interaction and advice/assistance since joining here, it's a fantastic knowledgebase for the Box owner 👍

Not Scotland specific - but my normal "away kit" is:

some oil, some de-ionised water, a battery - boost pack, decent battery powered compressor, (sounds silly, spare tyre valve cores and a little tool to replace them - I have been sidelined by a stuck 50p valve core).

Blankets in case you end up stuck somewhere......

    And an decent recovery service.

👍 All of the above, plus a couple of hi-vis vests was my 'away kit' when I drove my 987.1 Box S to Greece and back a couple of months ago...

  4. Yes, daily driver here. 6.5k miles since purchase (end September last year). 15 miles each way commute, lovely with the roof down in this weather. Daily MPG is not great, but so what! However, a trip to Wales last weekend returned an average 31mpg, so not too bad on a longer run..

    How much did OPC quote?

I haven't got a quote from OPC, I checked on D911 and a few others, think it was around £90 all in..

Did mine in Plasti-Kote over a year ago and still look as good as the day i did them. Couldn't you do the same for the Boxster S badge?

Hey, I'd like to paint the side air vents black. Can I just take them off, spray paint black and spray lack on the top?

I'm planning on doing this too, however I think I'll try using Plasti Dip, easy to remove if I decide I don't like it.

On the hunt for the boot 'Boxster S' badge in black too, but what I've found so far are ridiculously expensive..

Picked mine up from local indie after clutch, flywheel and RMS change. Flywheel was goosed. Drives like a completely different car now - clutch pedal is now very light where it had been extremely stiff with a very high biting point.

Mind if I ask what kind of cost that work is?

To dry the carpet in situ,

    1. remove passenger seat.

    2. Push your hand into the seam between the back off the carpet and the firewall carpet. Pull the carpet up from the rear. It should "invert" a bit.

    3. Slot in towels, newspapers,  anything absorbent under the raised carpet. Stand on the carpet to squeeze out the water. Repeat until as dry as possible.

    4. Keep the carpet propped in the "raised" position to allow air to circulated. A heater will help drying.

    5. It's possible to refit the seat and still raise the carpet enough to insert a newspaper to continue the drying process.

Agree with all of the above. In addition to number 4, use a block of wood or something. I used a combination of a heater and a dehumidifier for 4/5 evenings. Heater facing down on the carpet and the dehumidifier propped on to the center console..

  10. Busy weekend - Changed wheels to some 19" lobsters that I picked up recently, fitted some spacers at the same time and got a Hunter alignment done. Frunk and boot struts replaced. Finished off with a quick wash and wipe down. Still got the HVAC switches to swap out, hopefully next weekend...

  11. Attempted to change my door speakers, but failed and am now feeling right peed off! After finally getting the NS door card (bloody hell they are brutal to get off!) and main speaker panel off, I noticed I had the wrong size speakers :( I bought a pair of Vibe 6.5" (having seen a few posts on here about them) but the originals that are in the doors are 7.5". Very surprised about that.. am I missing something? Is there an adaptor mount or something that I need? Can anybody help?
