Water may be running across the plastic cover, hence where it appears might just be a function of how level the car is parked. For piece of mind, if you fancy it, take the under covers off and you should see how it has tracked. Also worth a clean up of the underside without the covers. Easy enough to do with ramps.

It could be difficult as I have no mechanical skills with cars (wish I had) plus no ramp or jack to be honest.

  2. Just gone out to check it, Not used the car since about 3pm yesterday. There is still a drip hanging at the end of the under cover and a small wet patch still, so a little confused still. I mean it has rained over night. The driveway/tarmac is dry though. I have wet patches under the car by the rear tyres and front tyres which I assume are the drain holes doing there job and the one small patch in the same place as yesterday in the pic. I have checked the coolant level and that near enough where i remember it being just below max level.

Taste test is good in these cases.  No taste - it’s condensation or rainwater, sweet it’s coolant, soapy it’s screen wash.

    think you are fine

Yea I hope I am fine. I guess dripping is a good thing so at least its draining away from the car and not sitting on the bottom of an undertray. I also have 2 cats and am paranoid the car will poison them!

  4. Morning,

After having spent a small fortune on my car last week on suspension, tyres and an alignment. I was enjoying the car yesterday and after a while I noticed a wet patch under my car. I took it home saw a drip on the underneath and started to freak out 🤣. I put a small pot underneath the drip to collect a sample. It came from the mid front of the car maybe more passenger side slightly. The sample was completely clear (no red or green tinge) I even tasted it and it had no taste. I was just wondering is it common on these cars t get condensation drips underneath? I mean yesterday was  a particular humid day and the AC was on full cold. I have had the Boxster now for 2 years and never really noticed it before.

    18 or 19in? For 19s that's a bargain.

    18s!

ATS Euromaster doing £64 off 4 Michelin tyres and also another claimable £50 cashback if you buy 4 or more Michelin tyres.

Probably less difference than new rears and part worn fronts when the rears wear out more quickly.  Ultimately it is fresh rubber of a similar type so will be fine.

    Thanks for all the answers.

I doubt there will be much difference between the 2 tyres. But was approx £70 cheaper to to put the newer 5s on the front then the 4s. I haven't gone for N rating not sure it worth it for such an old car. So that's £500 for all new Michelin on my Boxster!

  7. Quick question.

About to take the plunge and buy 4 new tyres for my Boxster by taking the Michelin ATS Euro master promotion. For some reason the Pilot Sport 5's are far cheaper than the Pilot Sport 4s for the fronts. However I can't get Pilot Sport 5's on the rear just the 4s. Is it ok to mix Pilot Sport 5s on the front a Pilot Sport 4s for the rears? Maybe a stupid question but don't really know much about it.

  8. I bought an ex display Pioneer SPH-DA160DAB off eBay. It had a minor mark on the screen which is not noticeable but was disclosed in the listing etc. Was £100 cheaper than new retail. Very happy with the unit. As mentioned the volume is a bit crappy being touch screen type thing but ill get over that. I prefer the plugin type as feel its more robust as in will wont cut out halfway through. Plus I put my phone in the glovebox and it refrains me from even touching my phone.

@Bleedsoff Bosch S4 or S5, Yuasa 5000, Varta, Exide Silver or Blue Excel or Premium.  Got to a 110 rather than 096 you get better cold crank, just move teh locating bracket one hole along in the battery tray.  You don't need AGM technology.  Also check CP4L, Halford for offers.  Remember 10% off at Halfords for AA and Shell+ members.

    Thanks for info.

the car been in the garage all winter and took it out beginning of the month. kept it on a CTEK for the majority of time. Started up fine when using it the first time after winter storage. Used it for the month of march enjoying. However twice it has just not cranked over. It unlocked and the ignition came on when turning the key etc. But when trying to crank it would not tick over. 15 min on the CTEK and gave it enough juice to start. I am assuming its a new battery needed? it currently has one of these Duracell ones, which I have been told are a bit pants Looking at the history that came with the car was done in 2016.

I thought the 2.7 brakes were smaller than the S - when it got to gen 2 I think they ended up the same size.  But I don’t have anything the back that up.

I have the white dials spec on my Boxster 2.7. I do prefer them to the standard Boxster dials. Not a massive deal though. I wonder how much someone originally paid for that?

    Thanks all.

I was getting tempted to have a go at the brakes myself as all of the quotes were well in excess of £1k, but I've got a much better quote now, so I'll probably go with that.

I'm assuming that the Srebo discs and Textar pads are a reasonable bet? I've been searching on here and all seem to get some good and some bad comments, but these to to fare quite well overall.

The good news is that the aircon is still feeling nice and cold, so I'll save that job for another time!

Would you mind me asking what your quote is for the brakes? Is it for all 4 discs and pads?

Do a search for 'crossover' and you'll find various threads. Here's one with suggested prices around £850-900 but one member got his done for around £400

Probably depends on precisely what is done. Best to get a quote from a decent indy or look to do it yourself - plenty of info here and online including Youtube. Parts are cheapest direct from OPC, especially if you have PCGB 10% discount.

Yea that was mine in the pic.

I had all 6 pipes (the metal crossover ones and the 4 rubber hoses) at the front changed out by Parr in Crawley. The cost was in the region of £800 - £850 can't quite remember exactly.

  13. When I bought my Macan in 2019 I used Porsche for PCP. I did go down the route of looking at at third party finance companies suck as Oracle and Magnitude. No one could get close to Porsche in price per month which was my main goal as none of them gave any where near Porsche for the GFV. I believe it was 6.9%APR with Porsche and third parties were similar APR, they all started with 6 on the percentage for the APR. It may of changed now so can't comment on APR rates today.  So I think it really depends what your goals are to achieve, whether that's overall cost or monthly figure etc. If you want the cheapest overall cost then a bank loan is the way to go.

  14. From my experience the other week. Ordered new coil packs and spark plugs. I ordered from Frazerpart.com. Reasonable priced think it was around £200 for the lot, 6 packs+plugs. Got the free delivery and a £5 off voucher for being a new customer. Ordered on the Wednesday evening got them on the Saturday with Friday being a bank holiday. So genuinely happy with them.

I did call Porsche Mid Sussex and they wanted £60+ per coil pack!!!! I didn't bother to ask for spark plugs.
