  1. MOT day today and it sailed through so feeling mightily relieved. I know you shouldn't but you always fear the worst. I'd given it a really thorough clean inside and out as we all know it goes faster and passes MOT's if it's nice and shiny.

Unfortunately the local farmers and building contractors are locked in mortal combat over who can dump the most mud on the lanes around here. As a result it's now absolutely filthy 🙄

If you are doing the coilpacks then check when the spark plugs are due. Your chosen mechanic can also then inspect the spark plug tubes for any leaking oil and replace as needed.

Keep any good old coilpacks as spares or don't replace at all if they are still good.

Good advice although I took the view that with three of them on the blink, the other three wouldn't be far behind. I must say having them done a few months back has been like a 30 bhp power upgrade!

Thanks, too far away although ironically we are looking to move around that area next year sometime. Looks good btw.

  4. Had new coil packs fitted today by the excellent Tuthill Porsche just down the road from me. This followed a misfiring episode one very damp morning a couple of weeks ago. Hasn't happened since but I don't believe in one offs so got it checked out and there were 2 cracked with no doubt others to follow.

Couldn't believe the change as now it's far sharper and quicker response. As I've only had the car a few months I had nothing to calibrate it against. Very pleased as it's like a 30bhp upgrade 😃

  5. Snap! Did mine today too when fitting the LED side lights.

I see you have the same small component eating gravel driveway as me. Mine consumed a screw from the side light assembly today to go with various other bits I have dropped when carrying out basic maintenance! 🤣

  6. Thanks both and are the symptoms of Porsche paranoia a gut wrenching sick feeling that your wallet is a out to be emptied followed by a drive in the sun today and a feeling of God, I love this car!

Will post pics, just got to work out how. It's cobalt blue, blue hood, sea blue leather interior and 18'' S alloys.

  7. Newbie here and first post. Nervously took my new purchase (2008 987.1 2.7 with 62k) to a local Porsche specialist for a brake fluid change and a decent inspection. Stressed for 2 hours thinking I'd bought a Boxter with all the nasties looming and it was pronounced in very good nick. Bit of scoring on the rear discs and an odd stain on the roof lining and that was it. Phew!

Absolutely love the car and very pleased I found BoXa.net as it's given me hours of decent reading and food for thought. 😀
