You don't need to do this to get the ULEZ database though. You just need to point out the relevant section on the COC and accompany that with page 1 and 2 of the V5C.

In the end it turns out that they simply didnt read all the provided information properly.

Today (and yesterday) I attempted to file the refund using the advised page to upload ticket information. Even that was down 🤣 I've raised a manual ticket to reclaim the payments though whcih they assure will be with me in the next 5-10 wiorking days lol.

Looks like a 996 facelift conversion.

Yes, that's the one. Fit's like a glove. Got the PSE unit on the back which is quite nice. Bit of a bodge overall but I'm ok with it.

    YES! BoXa strikes again!

suggest you start a new thread in Running Reports or Members Rides, title something like “SilverBud’s 986” and say a bit about you/ your car. And pics are welcome.
If you don’t mind meeting like-minded weirdos, put your approximate location in there and see if you get prodded to join some early breakfasts.

lol! She's a bit to tatty and definatly no garage queen. Happy to upload a few pics here and see if it's worth creating a thread 😊

The emissions data for a specific car are based on the as built spec of the car.

Which for me is a good thing…..

Glad to hear it! Mines had all sorts done to it It doens'nt even look like a 986 any more 🤣

Other items like climate control/AirCon, body kits (that’s probably about it for a Boxster) will also impact emissions figures.

I know this from my company car days. The Benefit on Kind rate for the same engined and bodied model will be different based on wheel choices etc.

When I spoke to a TfL rep yesterday she said that the reason why some cars dont fall into the exempt catagory is because they own private plates. She might have a point but I was'nt entirely convinced. I've been around the houses with quite a few reps over the last few weeks and have learned that the level of fragmentation and disparity of knowledge between the various different departements is staggering. One even attempted to charge me £10 to get the process of refunding under way. It's clear that the 'Back Office' as it's known is where all the decisions are made but the unfortuntly you cannot speak with anyone in that department directly.

Given Maps comments about wheel size affecting emissions, out of interest what wheel size do you have? 16" or 17"?

Pleased for you mate - result in the end.

Cant speak for the forum collective - but personally I would say that's more than generous.

I would add, stick around, there's good info, good banter, and good people on here and you never know what other bits of info or help might come along.

Thanks Paul. It's certainly a jewel amoungst rocks:– I'll be keeping a keen eye on other things going on here for sure.

It's over. What can I say. Great releif :)

Now I have an Enquiry open for £75 worth of unfounded charges I've paid... hope that does'nt take another four weeks to resolve!

I will donate half to the forum if that is ok? I can't really afford much more. Should be enought to be the team a round of drinks :)

That is even stranger! maybe by having bigger wheels you are increasing your carbon footprint 😤

I've just resent all the documents to them again lol.

I also contacted DVLA – 6 week turnaround to add the data from the CoC onto my V5C.

The whole thing is bit strange. My 02 S is now exempt from ULEZ, having been exempt, then non exempt! Maybe it’s the 18” wheels fitted at the factory lol

At least you can hopefully claim a backdated refund.

I found a page on there webste claiming "We don't refund daily charges or charges for dates in the past." To date I have been paying daily. I had to get them to confirm that over a chat... they said yes they would refund my daily charges.

You're doing all the right things - you just need to persevere! TFL have no incentive to update your record in a hurry (it pays for them to keep you on the black list) and you can bet the person behind the TFL computer literally couldn't care less!

All in all I think it took me around a month to complete the process from start to finish.

Thanks dpg123. Total shambles but what can you do but carry on! Will keep updates coming as and when.

I sent them the CoC and the V5C. Is it because the VIN/Chasis number needs to be present on the CoC? Well it is...on page 1.

Just spoken with TfL and Porsche. Porsche advise to contact the DVLA to update the V5C??

TfL have said that they may have not checked the Chasis/VIN numbers correctly. Total washout! Another 5 days of waiting to come Grrr!

If my assumption is correct this most recent letter is claiming that TfL can't corrolate between the two documents (V5C and CoC) due to VIN number not being present on BOTH documents. Well that's not true because the VIN is refernced on the cover letter that accompanied the CoC (both of which were provided to TfL), and the VIN is present on the V5C (also provided). TfL have confirmed recipt of all the above documents 😮

Emissions figures alter by wheel size and other options fitted at the factory.

So in that respect the emissions are vehicle specific.

Reading TFL’s note seems to suggest that whatever paperwork you sent them is missing the VIN to link the stated NOx to your actual car.

This is a surprise. Surely it is sufficient for the emissions to be linked to the model e.g a 1998 Porche Boxster 2.5 rather than to a specific vehicle. Others who have obtained the Certicate have not had to go to this length.

Is each individual car tested when the emission figure are added to the V5?

Having obtained your Certificate could the info be officially added to the V5?

I am perplexed and as clueless. I've forwarded the TfL letter onto Porsche UK who will hopefully be able to through some light on the matter.

Excellent news for you. It should also be excellent news for all those with Boxsters of the same year and engine size. It shouldn't be necessary for every owner to go through the same hoops (and anxiety about selling their car). TfL need to update their data base for all models matching those for which they have already accepted a conforming certificate.

This is not over yet! As of the last few week or so I've been having to pay the daily ULEZ charge while TfL take upwards of 5 days to respond – the first five days was spent waiting for a response that would never materialise due to the them not recieving my V5C in response to an email they sent asking me to send it (which I did) but for some unknown reason it didnt get through to them. I eventually discovered that the safest way to enquire is to use their Make-An-Enquiry page (https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ulez-make-an-enquiry-wizard).

They have sent me a letter today stating that I need to aquire a letter from Porsche but I can't quite understand what is being asked of me.

    Can someone advise? (see attached)

  17. Well said @dpg123

Note worthy because when I sent my initial email and checked in on them to ensure they recived it they said they did'nt receive so I was prompted to register my dispute via Make an Enquiry page (https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ulez-make-an-enquiry-wizard)

There's also a page on their website that's buried away where you can contest their claims. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/compliance-registration/before-you-start?intcmp=51789

Sadly the only ones with an interest to update it change are the owners themselves. Tfl just pull from DVLA. I expect the change would have to come from the manufacturer to the DVLA.

You have to wonder why some V5Cs display the NOx data and others don't, maybe it was issued as a prerequisit at some point in time but regardless the least they could do is add said disclaimer to their checker, it would'nt cost a penny and it would give consumers an opportuntiy to just check for themselves before selling if deemed neccessary.

You'd probably hit more users by posting across FB groups and bumping the post every week.

I'm not a member. I can't begin to imagine how many owners have a case here... would it not be prudent to put a patition out to the Mayors office directly. It's possible that they are as unaware as joe blog to this debacle.

I'd have to agree with you but the first port of call would have to be one of informing ALL car owners about the possibility that theeir vehicles might not neccessarily be liable for the ULEZ charges based on the return results of the ULEZ checker – I imagine most owners who use that faciltiy will take it as gosple and not think twice about challenging or even doing due dilligence. Come on TfL stick a big red call out on the checker page with above disclaimer!!

    Form the ULEZ site https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/ways-to-meet-the-standard#on-this-page-0

you need to be Euro4 level compliant for petrol.....

    From the AA site https://www.theaa.com/driving-advice/fuels-environment/euro-emissions-standards

    Euro 4 (EC2005)

    January 2005 (January 2006)

Euro 4 (January 2005) and the later Euro 5 (September 2009) concentrated on cleaning up emissions from diesel cars, especially reducing particulate matter(PM) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx).

Some Euro 4 diesel cars were fitted with particulate filters.

    Euro 4 emission limits (petrol)
    • CO – 1.0 g/km
    • HC – 0.10 g/km
    • NOx – 0.08
    • PM – no limit
    Euro 4 emission limits (diesel)
    • CO – 0.50 g/km
    • HC+ NOx – 0.30 g/km
    • NOx – 0.25 g/km
    • PM – 0.025 g/km

I read that as "you win" :)

This is saga is now over and in just about good time as there's only 13 days remaining till ULEZ comes to town!
I am pleaased to report that cclondon sent me an email this morning confirming that my vehicle is exempt from the ULEZ charges ;). Just checked their checker and it's not been updated yet but I imagine it will at somepoint during the next few days.

Considering where I was all but 2 months ago I could not have dreamed of such a good outcome. I will be making a contribution to the site at the end of the month :)@Menoporsche

I received a letter for one of my bikes.  I have a feeling I may have used it in London in the early 2000's and they therefore have it on record.  I've not received it for any other vehicles.

What did you do in response to said letter?
