I did have a peek at the air filters yesterday. They were very dirty, looked more than 11000 miles and 2 years old. They must have been done though as one of the two pull rings you squeeze togetherย  to remove the filter and housing was broken off...

Should have changed them while you were in there, save having you pants pulled down on them later ๐Ÿ˜Š

These guys are excellent, based in Liverpool, so not too far for you. The Dutch guy who runs it has a great reputation and gets all sorts of modified and exotic stuff turn up. I used him for my alignment after changing all the suspension and he freed up the track rods for me for free as part of the alignment, even though it took a while there was no extra cost.

Cheers buddy, I'll have a look into them ๐Ÿ‘

  3. Been a long time since I've paid for a 4 wheel alignment but thought I might have the boxster in for one, old place i used to use, a reliable, well regarded family run business has recently changed hands and become one of these pro tyre places so Im feeling a bit reluctant to go there.ย

    ย

There is a very well regarded place (Tuned UK in Wrexham) within a 10 mile drive that have quoted 80 to 200 depending on any changes made.. bit of a wide ranging estimate I thought.ย

Is this the going rate these days or is that a bit top endy?ย

Recommendations in North Wales or North West would also be appreciated, don't mind a bit of a drive out for someone good thats reasonably pricedย

    Cheersย

For clarity Iโ€™d like to know how to get this non-multifunction wheel on to a 986 as pictured in @zagamuffinโ€™s post quoted above.

    All relevant pointers/links welcome.

    Thank you.

It looksย  like he has bought a later wheel, from a Macan or 718 perhaps, sent it to Royals Steering wheels for a refurb too most likely

  6. Well after mulling this over and coming across a youtube video of steering wheel upgrades, I've just pulled the trigger on this https://www.porschemaster.com/product/porsche-steering-wheel/

Apparently all buttons work on install so no adaptors required, not a Porsche built wheel but all reports are positive re build quality and looking and feeling OE, maybe aย  bit of a gamble but Ive had a chat with a few folk that have had them and they all seem super happy.ย

I wasn't particularly thrilled at the thought of parting with 1k plus for a used wheel then needing a 300 quid adaptor to have it work properly. It's en route from the States

right now, hopefully install next week and report back.ย

bit of a drive for me but certainly worth considering, thanks for the info, this had not shown up in any previous google searches I'd done.

He does make plug and play kits that make for a very easy install on the 981 if you are a little bit handy with a screwdriver, the door cards are very easily removable on the 981 making upgrading the speakers very easy

Same. Replaced over winter. I forget exactly what it was that needed doing but was reasonably major whatever had failed. Alarm was faulty as well and fixed at the same time.ย

Can you remember what sort of cost it was? Got a big service coming up and this is only going to add to the pain๐Ÿ˜ข

    Mine had to be replaced.

I've a feeling mines heading that way, big service coming up in April hopefully they'll sort it then, just have to live with it for a while

May sound daft but have you tried spinning it in both directions ?ย

I'm pretty sure I did but I'll get back in there tomorrow and have another go๐Ÿ‘

    Checked the fuse ?ย

Yeah, fuse is fine, it's really odd as the car was fine pre lay up, I fully expected it to start running after spinning the fan ๐Ÿ˜’

If the car is on or the fan is turned on and you give it a nudge to get it moving then it should start to work or spin on its own.ย  That's all I have done with mine.ย  Give it a nudge and off it goes.ย  Job Jobbed.

Yeah, tried nudging it whilst running, spinning it with engine off, gone for a 50 mile spin in the hope it might spring back to life... nothing ๐Ÿ˜•. Well I did have a very satisfying first drive out after lay up๐Ÿ˜Š but slightly miffed about the fan still

  13. Ha, I think. I know exactly what this! Time to free up the fan, Yeah that's still not working, car was fine before laying up over winter so I assumed it was the common fault of a sticky fan.ย

Fuses are fine and fan is spinning freely although I don't know quite how easily it's meant to spin, maybe there's still a bit of resistance arguing with a sensor?ย

Any further knowledge from the collective?ย
