Installed this kit and the difference in audio is night and day. The stock audio was ASK - 1 door speaker and 1 tweeter in each vent. I had more bass in my phone speaker than the door panel.

The kit is of great quality, custom made to fit perfectly as a plug and play effort and by using this video it really can be done by anyone with a torx screwdriver.

Peter at SCR distribution was a great help when ordering and even called me to make sure the order arrived safe. A great product and clearly a guy who knows his way around Porsche audio like the back of his hand.

Took her for a drive to test out the audio and popped in for a quick clean and polish on the way home. I must have made it 300m down the road when a tractor pulled out in front of me and send mud and dirt flying from its wheels as it climbed speed. Typical 

it couldn't be much more straight forward, but don't take my word for it... 

I just finished installing my android head unit over the weekend, an absolute doddle and makes such an improvement on the original CDR that was in there. I got mine from here head unit pnp . Now I have in built sat nav through the receiver (taped under the steering wheel) and 2 usb points, one in the passenger footwell and one in the drivers which passed through the trim nice and easily.

planning on heading north a little from me and making use of the mid-wales roads that go through the mountains soon, just as soon as there's weather which warrants putting the top down! 

she's an absolute beauty! i love how the white and black elements contrast so well, I'm still in the 'look back at her after parking' phase.

i just got done installing a new after market android head unit, an absolute doddle and make such a difference after dealing with the original CDR set up mine had. trying now to figure out why the door panel speakers don't emit any sound at all (just the tweeters working at the moment) before I go and get some new ones from a guy from here - speakers pnp

Wash and wax and removed the CDR 3.1 head unit in preparation for receiving my new Android Auto from here.

As such, has anyone ever sold their OEM head unit on ebay or alike? From a quick search even this old style CDR goes for £250+ !

it has PSE, I've not played around with it too much yet.. good luck with the test drive, hopefully yours has speakers that don't sound like low power walkie talkies! 

The 981 is definitely a better drive but I won't have too many bad words said about my Britney! She was a great intro into 2 seater life and did a great job for a few summers.

@mr.tourette23 maybe I dismissed the idea too quickly, I've seen a plug and play head unit with android auto I think I'm going to order first and then I think I'll start with some dash upgrades before looking at the door speakers too. There's a paycheck or two already accounted for!

bit of a drive for me but certainly worth considering, thanks for the info, this had not shown up in any previous google searches I'd done.

Thanks for this Tony, I did have a read last night after finding the thread through a search of the forum. Your initial swap of the dash speaker looks achievable but the soldering element I might outsource to an electrician friend IF I even think about doing this manually and not going through a specialist for a more complete upgrade. 

I adore it... 40k, absolutely immaculate inside and out and has been truly loved and adored by the 2 previous owners.

There is a snag however... I had a better audio experience in my teenage years driving my mums Ford KA around with an FM receiver linked to an MP3 player. It's the only drawback and will be the first thing I look to upgrade / change. They are atrocious, it's even making me think they're faulty but I think I'm just over thinking it.

Does anyone have any experience in upgrading the stock speaker system with a specialist in the UK? I have little to zero interest in trying to do this manually and whilst I've tinkered with custom mods to other cars (most recently the Z4 I had until last week) I really don't want to touch the immaculate trim / interior in this. I've already have people ask me if the plate is private as they cannot believe its a 2013 model.

So, any recommendations?

Looking forward to joining the community, I'm head over heals in love with the driving experience of this beautiful piece of engineering already!

hi chaps - about to do the same thing. 981 manual is what I'm after.

have seen 2 or 3 private sales online which have really perked my interest, anything particularly specific that a new 981 owner should consider before buying? (other than the usual stuff like SH and alike).
