Not sure of the exact situation tbh. The configurator now says "The following options are currently not available and will be removed from the configuration".  Hopefully it's just a temporary issue.  When's your build slot?

My car was ordered on the 1st of June and I have been told my car is coming Q1 2022 but I have not had an allocation as yet.

This will be my 3rd Boxster but my first new one and I have always wanted a car with buckets and PCCB's and will not be happy with any comprimises!

As an aside I do know the Shark Blue was supposed to have been the demo.  I'm thinking someone cancelled an order; but someone already had an interest in the blue and the dealership have done a swap, hence it being it now being in the showroom.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it's already sold by the time I get there tomorrow.

It's not listed on their website.

I am also going for shark blue but I am going manual, buckets and PCCBs so I very much doubt that car would suit even if it is still for sale.

I put the deposit down in June this year. I had an original build date of October but that was pulled by Porsche.

I missed out on a cancellation in July because I wanted to make sure I could get the car up the drive with no bother and was waiting for the demo to show up.

You have done well, I placed my deposit at the begining of June and was originally told my car would come in Jan 22, have heard nothing to the contrary from the dealer since but the internet is full of stories of long delays. A chap on PH posted this week that his car has just been allocated for Jan 22 and he placed his order exactly a year before.

  4. I honestly think you would have to be a road tester to tell the difference in a ride height of 1cm.

I have ordered mine with the  standard -20mm mostly bescause I thnk it looks slightly better but I wouldn't hestitate to get the -10mm if like you my access was comprimised etc etc.

I drove a -20mm car at the PEC and it was awesome.

  5. These high values are purely theoretical.

I have had contact with 3 potential buyers so far, every single one has mentioned the rising market and doesn't want to get bitten if there is a rapid correction, it's putting buyers off big time.

The most I have been offered is 35k and my car is practically faultless.

Does the sports-sports plus dial on your swapped 718 steering wheel work? Nice mod and a big improvement on the 981 wheel

It did work perfectly when first installed but for some reason has been a bit flaky lately.

The wheel is heated as well, it's lovely.

  7. I bought the retrofit kit from my local OPC and fitted it myself, the proper instructions are available online if you hunt about. I think I paid £1450, there are a couple of options depending on weather you already have the sports tailpipe.

You have to remove the passenger seat and the interior from that side to run a wire from a module under the seat, through the rear bulkhead and into another module on the right hand side of the boot. Putting the wires into the connectors is the worst bit.

Fit the change over solenoid and bracket to the top of the engine, takes longer to get into the engine than too fit. Run vacuum lines down engine to the exhaust area.

Strip the button panel out of the center console and fit the new one that comes with the kit, this has to made up but is very straight forward.

Remove the old exhaust and fit the new one with new gaskets, connect vacuum lines.

Get the exhaust coded in by somebody with a PIWIS tool.

Enjoy the sound of the car and never use the switch you have just spent ages fitting.......

  8. All in the info you need is covered in detail in this thread.

    In summary;

Steering wheel: I used a GT Sports heated multifunction wheel from a 718/991.2 bought new from Porsche £790 ex. I needed a manual wheel there are lots of PDK wheels on eBay

Airbag: The old one won't fit, new from Porsche about £500 ish ex

Clockspring: I needed a new one as I wanted to add heating you shouldn't need to change it if you just adding multifunction, make sure you get the right one, I bought the wrong one from a 718 first, it didn't work. £276 ex new from Porsche. The right 981 part numbers are listed by Richard in this thread

Adapter: I needed an Adapter X but it depends which wheel you choose. £407 from https://gpsadapter.us/collections/all Currently out of stock I see

Activation codes: Choose the ones you need from https://www.code-porsche.com/ $100 per code, I ended needing 3 as my cruise got lost in the process

You also will need to get it all coded in by somebody with either a PIWIS 2 or 3, I used 2 different people but Richard in this thread was the one who finally got mine sorted.

I fitted everything myself, there are some pretty good instructions on the GPS Adapter site for not just fitting the adapters but the clockspring as well, it's really quite easy, I ended up being able to fit a clockspring in less than 10 minutes as I had had plenty of practice by that time

  9. My car is now 100% sorted thanks to Richard. :)

Just a word of warning to anybody who does this in the future, my factory fitted cruise lost its activation code when the clockspring was changed meaning I had to buy a new code, another expense on top on what was a far from cheap upgrade!!

  10. This process seems to have been going on for ages but thanks to Richard I am now largely sorted.

I ended up having to buy the 981 clockspring, my original one definitely did not have the pins in the connector for the heating so it had to go, I then took the car to Richard who after quite a long while working out which combinations of options we needed, managed to get the multifunction and the heating working :)

Unfortunately on the way home I discovered that the cruise control had stopped working, Richard thinks that the activation code to this was lost when the new clockspring was installed, so its back to the Russian guy for me for another code, we originally though that there might be a chance of getting the code out of the old unit but on further investigation by Richard this turned out to not be possible.

I don't think I would have got this far without Richard's help, so many many thanks to him.

  11. I changed the clockspring back to the original one, the selector stalk is now working again but I am still getting the steering error message and the multifunction and heating are not working.

I did this without any coding, the car had been left coded as if it had a heated multifunction wheel so I thought it might work.

That's a 718 clockspring for a heated wheel.  It is only used on the 718 - no other models.  Unlike the 981 (which has about 8 variants), it looks like there are only two 718 clocksprings - one for heated wheels, and one without.  To be honest, I think you are in completely uncharted territory here.  I think you have two options.  a) Change back to your original clockspring, fit both adapters, and do the coding again (99% likely to work IMO) or b) Leave the 982 clockspring in place, remove the GPS adapters and re-code it (50:50 IMO).

I suspect that if the 718 clockspring worked on a 981 then Porsche would offer it as a replacement for the 981, which they don't.

That's great info, many thanks. I will definitely be giving that a go.

Any chance you could dig out the 981 clockspring part no for MFSW and heating in case I have to get another one

If this works I am going to owe you a beer!!
