Frankp2112
Hi, Just in the process of replacing the handbrake shoes - finally got them on to find the disc/drum wont go over the shoes. I have released the handbrake cable, turned the adjuste all the way in. Any suggestions as to what I could be missing ? Thanks Frank
Cooks
I had similar when changing mine. Is the mechanism wound all the way in? I managed to wiggle mine and pulled the handbrake up and downs a couple of times to seat the shoes.
Tonybandit
Is there a lip on the edge of the drum sitting proud? If so grind it off. I've just done mine and that's all I did and they slid on ok, must say that I did pull the hand brake on and off with a mate holding the other end with pliers so to free the cable and make sure it was all the way back. Clean the little holes out too that are on the adjuster where the shoes sit. 😉
beicmynydd
Check if the actuator is sitting in the correct place, at the bottom. If not seated correctly the shoes do not close.
