REV COUNTER NOT WORKING

Hi

My 981 has an intermittent fault with the rev counter arm. Sometimes the rev counter arms works and sometimes it doesn't. Its either perfect or doesn't move. At the moment I live in Spain, in works in the morning but maybe not in the afternoon. My simple logic says it climatic , when the weather gets hot by the afternoon something triggers the arm not to work. Everything else in the instrument cluster works find. I'm puzzled.

Porsche Centre quote, wait for it, £4K!, to replace the cluster but do admit there could be a sensor or something else feeding into the cluster that may be causing the fault.

Two Questions:

1. Has anyone else had this fault and can shed some light on this?

2. Does anyone know an independent repairer / auto electrician in the South East ( Kent London )who would could take a look at this?

Cheers everyone!
