  1. no further news on the car from the estimate I had 6/7 weeks ago, which was 3rd November.  It will be here just in time to put it away in the garage unused till March!!!
I have obviously spec’d something that they are struggling with as it is scheduled to be on the customisation production line for best part of a month.

I am away on holiday this coming week and will contact OPC when I get back to see if any of the dates have started populating / changing.

Hope you are still enjoying yours, did you make a decision on your new allocation?

  2. thanks @iborguk, I have been without making myself a pest!!!  My freeze date was 4/7 and was told likely delivery September.  Phoned yesterday as I had not heard anything. Now looking like November so 4 months which seemed like a long time. That makes a total of 24months since deposit 🤔.  Was wondering on others experience as I thought things might have speeded up with the production being moved to Osnabrück.

I have just found my VIN number tonight though on the App so at least it is starting to feel like it might really exist soon…

Destroyed a pair of rear Michelins at the PEC today in one of their BGTS 4.0s. Went out with Olliie 30 minutes before the rest as I had done the briefing a couple of weeks ago on my first …

Interesting experience, particularly your thoughts on the 911S as I have just come out of my 992S 2 and am still wondering how much I will miss it.

  4. I am also interested in this as my car will be getting PPF when it arrives.

I have read a couple of things that was making me consider excluding the headlights.

1 I understand that Expel themselves do not warrant application on headlights

2 I have seen a photo of an owners manual that also says not to do it, which in the event of any headlight issues would give Porsche an easy out on a warranty claim.

@JurassicBGTS I can’t find anything with an on-line type manual. Have you got one to check.  It reads something like below:

    Headlights

    NOTICE

Abrasion and excessive temperatures can damage the headlights.

    • Do not affix any coverings (e.g. stone guards or films) in the area of the headlights.

    Information

The headlights can mist up due to temperature and humidity. This misting will disappear after …

Just found the same wording in a 2023 911 992 manual.

Would have taken you up on that offer if I had not already made a purchase.
Might be an idea having one for both cars so not constantly swapping it over though !

My 992 (MY 21) was wireless wonder if it was upgraded.

  6. Well I took a gamble on that Sixriver dongle  from Amazon as with another £10 off it was £49 so worth a punt. Obviously not got the BGTS to try it with but have used it all evening in my Mercedes.  Works a treat - easy to pair and just auto connects as soon as turn the ignition on.

  7. It is true very subjective and personal.  The current (new order) colours I don’t think give a huge choice and most are uninspiring.

I originally went for Gentian. Then briefly flirted with Aventurine but it was too close to Agate, which although nice I had on my 981S.  I also liked shark and thought that crayon suited the car quite well so it was selected on regular visits to the configurator. It does seem quite popular and I don’t think is a bad choice.  If you like it, go for it.

I finally locked in my spec yesterday and have gone for Arctic Grey after the help with my decision from @JurassicBGTS 👍

  8. I had silver wheels on my Agate 981S and liked them a lot - they had a nice contrast I thought.  When I sold it first thing the new keeper did was paint them black which I thought spoilt the classy look.  My new order for a 4.0 GTS in Arctic I am going for Satin Aurum - they should also look good with the black as a contrast

  9. Wholeheartedly agree customer should be king!  And the whole process of buying a premium product at a premium price, you should be made to feel as such. The process should be pleasurable and exciting and part of the ownership experience, not a battle.

  10. Very different response to my boiler plate one, that does not reference anything in terms of the content of the initiating email.

    Thank you for contacting Porsche.

For any guidance and resolution to the issue that you are experiencing, please contact a member of the Service Department at your local or preferred Porsche Centre.  They have Porsche Trained Technicians on site who will be able to support you and also have the ability to submit requests to further Technically trained teams to thoroughly investigate.

Full details of all our Porsche Centres can be located on our Porsche website - www.porsche.co.uk.”

like many things in life might depend on who you get working/responding on a particular day.

I think I will make an appointment with my SE and try and get to the same position as you have.  Then at least I specify the GT leather wheel there should be some recourse to getting it replaced FoC.

will let you know how things go.

  11. Well ….

Despite me putting quite a bit of detail in my email including the error on the configurator, the reply back from PUK is no help at all!  Simple referred me back to the ‘Service Department’ at my chosen PC for ‘any guidance and resolution’.

@daviddurham Here is the link to the webpage, address is contact@porsche.co.uk  I got an automated reply the next day and then a personal reply about a week later.

    https://www.porsche.com/uk/dialog/contactandinformation/customerservices/

Initially, after speaking to my SE, I emailed him with what I had found out regarding the wheels and the discrepancy between the pictures on the configurator and the available options.  He understood straight away and emailed Porsche.  Initially the guy from Porsche wrote back to him and said that the MF wheel is standard on the UK car so there was no problem.  My SE then got back to them again because he didn't know what code to use on the order, and this is where we have ended up.

It will help if you email Porsche UK as well so they know there is a problem for more than one person.

If you get any traction, it's important that you get something in writing that they are going to get you a leather MF wheel as it may not be explicitly stated on the order form.

    Email sent.

will let you know what I get as reply.  I have expressed my urgency given my freeze date.

@daviddurham I exchanged emails with my SE yesterday.  He has had a few exchanges with Porsche to get to the bottom of this and he says that Porsche UK are telling him to order the car with option 858 which is the GT Sports Steering Wheel.  He states that this will give me a leather wheel with controls.  There are obviously still unanswered questions (such as how do you order a standard leather wheel with controls or a GT wheel without controls?!) but I think he is just happy that if the car comes without the controls he has a paper trail so he can charge it back to Porsche UK when I get them to change it before I accept the vehicle.

I also sent an email direct to Porsche UK, they replied personally to me last week and say they are looking into it, still waiting for an answer from them...

That’s is great news if I can get to same position. My preference by far is for the GT wheel in leather with multifunction controls.

It also appears to be orderable from the teqequipment options list for dealer fit. I also looked on the US, Canadian and German configurator as you can order the GT wheel in leather and add the controls as another option on all of them.

I can look it up but do you have the direct email address for Porsche UK handy you could share.  I will ask the same question. I will get my SE on the case but does not seem as proactive as yours (computer says no). It’s useful to have a email trail to go back to if it’s not as expected.

Sorry I meant auto dimming not auto dipping, but see they are also included as standard along with rain sensing wipers. Becoming a bit a a bargain with all these standard features now included😂

😂 I like your sense of humour….   I will consider the £10k increase since I placed my deposit a sound financial investment 🤣

  15. @Flame470 the configurator seems to be working again and there appear to be no changes.

looking through the Tequipment Accessories for the 4.0 GTS. The leather wheel appears to be orderable. Whether that is really the case I will ask my OPC.

@daviddurham noticed that they changed the look of the configurator about a week ago although the content seems the same.  I had the same issues with the error codes on and off for the last few weeks, don't know if it is just when it is busy?!  Initial feedback about the leather steering wheel from Porsche UK (through my sales guy) have been positive, hoping to get a config code this week, will let you know...

Thanks @Flame470 that would be great. My sales guy last week was saying still unavailable. I am only 2 weeks from freeze point now.

I am having a debate with myself re the 18way seats now! There are some clear advantages, but in every car where I have had full memory electric seats I set them once and then never touch them again.

  17. Is it me or are there issues with the configurator at the moment?  Thought I would have another play with my spec as freeze point approaches - just seems to keep hanging and get error codes.
I am suspecting there may be more changes being made to available options or price!!!

  18. Thanks, if I hear anything will do the same.  I have just over 3 weeks to my freeze point. I am trying not to make any more changes. The wheel being the only remaining area of potential change if the leather MF becomes available. Oh, and whether to spec the 18way seats, though I think I have spent enough with nearly £14k of options already!
