Sometimes they get put to the back of the shelf, and even locked.

That particular thread I was looking for did say it was archived...maybe that was why it wasn't appearing in search results?

  2. Its been a while since I owned a Boxster and posted on here, but I previously had written up a few threads and added images of caliper repainting that I did.

I've been trying to search for the posts as I wanted to get some info, nut I can't find them.

Any suggestions to help me search?

    Nice car!!

I am a fellow Macan owner (and originally from NI!). Mine's not a diesel, but it does have the Power Steering Plus. I had a 2.0 loaner a few months ago and it didn't have this - I would highly recommend you retrofit this option if you can. It makes a huge difference (not that it was bad before, just that if you have driven both you'll want it).

It's a £293 option on the Tequipment brochure:

    https://content3.eu.porsche.com/prod/pag/tequipment/TeqFinder.nsf/TeqFinder?ReadForm&co=30&sp=1&ma=PCGB (RL)&bt=Macan I&ba=Macan&ac=model&mo=Macan S Diesel

Thanks for the insight. I saw the item online earlier and believe it’s just a software activation.
I may check with the OPC about seeing if they have anything in stock with it on for a test drive.

  4. Thanks for the replies and insights.

Had a few of the niggles that the 987.1 came with, so hopefully the Macan stays free of any previously mentioned ones!

The car is a March 2017, so it just misses the higher tax bracket, so £220 per year. I've been paying big money for road tax for so long now, this will feel like a nice bonus to me.

I got the car from Belfast Porsche, so its got 24 months warranty and breakdown. It was two owner and has 36K on her.

Not the highest spec car, but has what I need: Bi-Xenon PDSL, Pan Roof, heated seats. Didn't initially come with Car Play, but the dealer paid 50% of the retrofit costs for me.

The wheels that were on it, weren't OEM Porsche wheels, so the OPC out brand new tyres on a spare set of 20" that they had in stock. Someone told me they were Turbo or GTS wheels???

Having the 3.0L engine is noticeably different to the 2.0L I had in my previous Land Rover Discovery Sport. Its very smooth, quiet and pulls well.

Compared to the Disco Sport, the steering does seem quite heavy at low speed. Someone mentioned some Power Steering Plus retrofit option that would make a difference. Not sure what they were talking about.

    Official OPC pictures attached.

    thanks

    Colin

  5. Was here before with a 987 Boxster.
Now back again with a S Diesel.
Got rid of my Disco Sport for it as the Land Rover was lacking in the power department and had a hideous gearbox.

Whilst the spec of the Macan isn’t amazing, it meets my needs and the 3L engine and PDK are sweet.

    thanks

Yes, if you've not got the handbrake on, hold hasn't been activated and you're not pointing up a hill

Thanks. I’ve a F80 M3 and the gearbox in it doesn’t creep. You have to tap the pedal to engage the gear and it’s quite annoying. Wasn’t sure if the PDK operated the same.

  7. Looking at a 2017 Macan.
Curious about the PDK gearbox it has.
If you pop it into drive, does the car creep forward when you release the brake?

Or do you have to tap the accelerator to engage drive?

     Thanks.

No idea why it works now and not the first time I tried.Maybe the update disc needs to go in twice to complete?

Just turned on the ignition, put the disc in,pressed confirm update,a few seconds later it said install map cd and that was it.Works fine 👍

    @Mick D

glad to hear the discs did their job!.....eventually.

thanks for the info - only reason i ask is that i'm still considering pulling the trigger on one (my 3rd porsche) - but don't want it to just become another 'to do' list like my others did - lol - just not sure if i have the enthusiasm any more - lol

Would never rule out getting another! Maybe newer and lower mileage.

any particular reason for selling the Boxster?

The main reason I decided to let it go was that I felt there were some things looming on the horizon that were beyond my skills and therefore would have required a decent outlay. Therefore it would have tied me to the car for even longer.

Plus I plan on getting rid of my daily driver around Xmas, and I couldnt see me driving the Boxster all day every day. (Age of car, and 83K miles).

Two seats didnt come into the equation as the Mini Coupe is only two seats - it will still be me & my son, my wife can walk :)

  11. Sold the 987.1 this week and picked up the below.

    So I went from a 2008 Boxster 987.1 2.7 Sports Edition with 83k miles.
The Mini is 2012, one owner and 30k miles.
Best thing. Traded the Boxster in and got the Mini and cash back !!!!

Over the coming days/weeks I may have some 987.1 parts up for sale.

Not at all....in fact on another forum someone who is much better at electrics than me (and who has bought x5 of them for his cars) has commented that the drain is negligible and not worth worrying.....

Cheers. Got mine connected and giving the battery a proper charge at the same time.
As you said, dead easy to connect to.

I got it as I felt the battery was draining more than I would like over time. Not sure if that was due to COVID lockdown, or the new headunit I put in recently.

Time will tell with this toy!
