Well I only fitted it last night and haven't tried it on the move. That said, I'm really surprised how solidly it connected. My iphone found it and connected near-instantly, which isn't my usual bluetooth experience tbh. Given my other car with built-in BT struggles to stream from my phone if it's in my pocket, I was taken aback at how it managed to connect and stream in good quality through the front bulkhead etc.
Not sure on your second question. I haven't really figured out the extent to which the CDR24 head unit will control the phone. Almost not at all I suspect, which is what I expected, although I have noticed the track select knob will rewind the current song back to the start.
Obviously sticking the module in the frunk means you cant readily use the usb power, aux in or phone mic sockets if any of those matter to you. If you want more functionality you're back to hiding it behind the centre console or having it in the glove box.Thanks. I’m in two minds whether to fully replace the whole PCM2.1 unit with something a bit more modern or just put the Mr12volt in.
At the end of the day the only thing I really listen to in the car are podcasts.
Was it around £118 pounds?

@minimoog the Mr12volt BT gadget you got. What’s the quality of connection like with it being in the frunk?
When you start the car, do you have to manually select the CD changer to initiate it, or does it start automatically etc?

Without looking through my invoices I'm not sure , but the quality is excellent,
Check AutoDoc on line site.
The prices on AUTODOC seem to range from very low to very high.
Wasn’t sure if it was a case of higher price = better quality?? -

Yes I had to bite the bullet and buy one, outrageous!!especially when I bought a air con condenser rad for £23 plus postage from AutoDoc in Germany!!!
Sounds super cheap for a new rad? What brand was it?

Fitted a new window regulator on the passenger side. Hardest part? Getting the door panel off!
Lol. Tell me about it. Did my passenger one about a month ago.

SORNed it from April 1st Will give it a proper clean next week. Also need to clean and wax the summer wheels ready for refitting.
I’ve never SORNed a car before.
Do they refund remaining tax back to you?if you come to put it back on the road, do you need to re do the MOT again?

@detail1 any links to the paint and satin that was used?

Have the next few days off work, so decided to give her a bit of a clean....black is such a PITA!!

Sorry @chanlon1 - its just a line item on the bill. Is that a good price then?
My OPC told me it was something like £130 + vat. I couldn’t find an OEM part online for any cheaper.
Still determined to change it myself! -

Picked mine up from the man, passenger window now all working.
wallet £325 lighter (£117 for a new regulator, £150 for labour and the vodka and tonic)
Any ideas where the regulator came from at that price??

@Lonewolfgjp, JW Autotrim via Ebay, item number 274127608562
£76 (£35 each and £6 return postage), good selection of colours too. Took 7 days from posting out to having them returned.
Excellent quality, really pleased with them.
My current belts on my 987.1 are not the best at fully retracting. Sometimes you have to help feed the last bit in.
Do you know if that would be fixed as part of the rewebbing they do? -

appear to have broken my passenger window
Went to the gym early this morning, forgot to de-ice along the weather strip, lowered the window to clear, made some grinding sounds and stopped moving. Managed to get back up to full raised height but something isn't right as it doesn't drop when you open the door. Booked in to see my man next week as my drive currently looks like a branch of jewsons and don't fancy trying to fix it in the middle of storm ciara
Snap. Literally!
i have the same issue.

Bought a load of door panel clips in advance of taking the panel off and breaking them.
Got them from the OPC. Something like 68p each.
Also got a quote of ~£130+vat for a new regulator. Parts department did say they would be able to give me a bit of a discount though. -
Those belts look really nice.
Can I ask cost?Who did them. And how long it took them?

Were they easy to remove?

Can't see the point. I've never seen mine and unlikely to.
wasn't sure if there was normal Porsche OCD and knowing there was a filthy engine behind you.......
-
Took the engine cover off today and saw the engine for the first time in 12 months ownership.
Taking it off was a lot easier than I thought.
Had a peak at the air filter as well and it seems reasonably clean, however the recent BMC and KN threads have me thinking.....Re the engine, it was pretty filthy. What’s the best solution to cleaning it, or should I just leave it as is?

No PCM for me, I have the CDR24. I would assume however that the functionality would be the same as the cd changer you have now.
Afraid I can't give a firm answer on this though!
No worries. May treat myself over the holidays. Hoping eBay will pop up with a discount code for me!

No errors for me. As far as I am aware, it just emulates the changer. CDC becomes the bluetooth input.
Cheers. I’ve always considered this as mine has the CD changer and it’s seems a straight forward install.
in regards to it working, do you have to have the PCM set to the CD option to work. Eg can you use the sat nav at the same time or switch the screen to Trip etc?
-
@Rooose does it show an error on start up as it cant find the CD auto-changer?

PS. the cheese headlight tool from the Porsche tool kit split doing this headlight removal.
You saying that the metal tool used to extract the headlights can “split”???
-
Once you have done it, and put the unit back in again, it’s simple the next time round. First time is a faff.
-
Booked mine in today for MOT on Saturday morning......fingers crossed...
What have YOU done to your 987 today

I removed mine last year. The car is a non S, but a previous owner added the S badge. However they hadn’t centered it all so was slightly off kilter.
