To be fair any fresh rubber replacing 11-year-old rubber will be transformational.

I did have this thought at the back of my mind when weighing up the PS4 or a set of Khumo Ecsta 71s.  In the end, I decided that the £150 saving wasn't worth it over the course of 6-10 years.

You'll think you have a new car.  Have you done a full suspension refresh?  That will then make it better still if you haven't.

Not had a full refresh but a spring broke so I had new front springs and top mounts.  Looking forward to a nice drive this weekend.

  3. Today I had Michelin PS4 fitted all-round, replacing the 11 year old Potenzas I was running.  I've not yet tested them properly as I want to check the pressures and scrub them for a few miles but even on my gentle drive home, it was like night and day.

  4. @faithlessworld I have the switch in my 986.  My local independent specialist coded it for me.

This is the link to the device (which is no longer stocked) on eBay. If you click into the item description it gives some useful information on the device, videos etc.

  5. This is an interesting thread for me. My Bridgestone Potenza S02s aren’t even half worn but are 9 years old.  I’m therefore thinking that next year I had better get a new set of tyres.  Nobody seems to be giving the Bridgestones any love so I’m guessing I shouldn’t get them this time around!

  6. Each to their own @dunks, I can certainly see your point but I was looking during lockdown and thought I had found a great car 150 miles away.  I don’t regret gettinf the inspection for a second.  If it had been near enough and we’d been allowed to look at cars I would have spotted a number of the problems as they were pretty glaring but not all of them.  If I do get a 996 in future I think I will spend a bit more and get one from a respected specialist with a warranty.

  7. I used Strasse Porsche in Leeds to inspect a 996 recently.  It was £150 plus VAT.  Worth its weight in gold as although described as being in superb condition, the car had a LOT of issues including a ticking/knocking engine, badly leaking coolant tank, lots of suspension issues etc etc.

Got a link or part number for GSF?

@edc it was part 857440030 from Euro Car Parts.  https://www.eurocarparts.com/search/857440030?type=shopping&gclid=CjwKCAiAo7HwBRBKEiwAvC_Q8UzNA_fq0BFLqDliaANjAVt4XMixubgEa6pyOMNlhffef9GXBNqWlxoCQ18QAvD_BwE

The link will ask you to select your make and model which was why I went for this one over the Design911 one which seemed to be for the 2004 model.
