Definite improvement. Now throughout the whole rev range the car sounds as you would expect it to have done, rather than the valves closing between 2k and 4k, muting the sound where you actually spend the majority of time. Having come from a 981S with PSE and Cargraphic “X”-pipe it was very lacking as standard so both myself and Mrs. drago knew straight away we needed to do something to restore some aural character, which for now this has succeeded in doing. It just feels more fun.

We’ll see how we get along with it over the next few months - a replacement back box might be on the horizon if we yearn for a bit more engagement with the car without being at 10/10ths.

    For about £450 fitted it’s a no-brainer.

Another thing about the controller, it’s pretty much fit and forget, too. The controller stays on the selected mode until you decide to change and press the remote, so you can tuck it away into the door pocket or centre console and only reach for it if you need to.

What’s your latest opinion on this? Still worth it?

I’m thinking of adding this to the GT4. I’ve also managed to source a OEM back box which I’ve had doctored to increase noise

  2. A quick update, just got home from being away for work.
The fault code has disappeared with nothing in the messages page. It’s going in for a MoT and service at RPM next month so will have them check it out. The car drives totally fine.

RU getting any more detail on the problem in the warning msge?  Mine threw a fault recently for a failed engine mount - this showed as a warning message but with an indication of the actual problem…….

Nope nothing more. I’m not overly worried that’s for sure

Really cheap units will read generic Powertrsin (P) codes.  If the check engine light is on then they can turn it off.  But if it’s a Porsche specific code they likely will likely have no clue

they won’t be able to handle anything Porsche specific so if you the check engine light isn’t on then I would spent s bit more for something with Porsche smarts.

also. Whilst it’s often a transitive or spoof error it may be that there is a real problem and no amount of turning it off eill make it go away forever.  In that case actually having some info behind the error will help with the fix.

Thanks, it could be just down to the sports cats, I will get it checked out by rpm also

  5. Just had the following fault show up (according to the wife )

    Engine control fault

Consult a garage - Driving permitted

From what I’ve read it doesn’t sound at all bad and likely to be a o2 sensor or something, which could be easily solved with clearing the fault code reader.

Any recommendations of a fault code reader welcome?

    Hi mate thanks for this.

so I was going to query the PCCB’s as the car will be 5/6 years old. Is this something that I need to worry about changing? Not to keen on forming out a tonne for breaks.

the upgraded lights are they the xenon ones?

    https://www.auto-brochures.com/porsche.html

that should advise on options etc. Light upgrade is the same as the rest of the 981 range and directional, so yes xenon.

in terms of brakes, depends on how they’ve been treated and how you will treat them. Mileage also comes into it. I’d say get whatever you buy checked out for those expensive wear items, there are 3rd party options also.
all 3 of my gt4 have had them with no issue of wear etc and I track my cars regularly, the are noisier but give confidence. As usual a personal choice and if you are not tracking it then steels are more than adequate as they were over specd by Porsche also

  7. I’ve owned a 981 GT4, there weren’t that many options to have on them. I don’t recall Bose being an option.
It’s a great car to drive and sounds brilliant. Power delivery isn’t linear but goes pretty well. It will make for a special drive

Happy to answer questions you may have.

must haves, in my view - club sport, buckets, sports chrono - these all preserve value too,

nice to haves - pccbs, dash upgrade and upgraded lights

note there was a gearbox recall on some cars - 2016 production if I recall correctly, which should have been dealt with.

  8. Paul,

    assume it’s a 981 GT4?
ive owned both versions, sorry I can’t help as i didn’t experience any weird noises from the rear. I, also not aware of any common faults with the rear set up

OPC seems like the right approach. Good luck

has anyone actually taken WBAC up on any of these offers recently? Be interested to see if they stand up to the increasing prices.

was tempted to sell the x6 for a quick profit, but SWMBO would chop my nether parts off with a teaspoon of I did 😫

I did back in March of this year. They did stand to the price minus a reduction for an alloy with a scuff and a couple of chips in the bonnet. They took about £300 off which I thought was very reasonable and expected

  10. So for research purposes only I’ve just done wbac and evans hallswhaw.
Evans was approx £2k more in valuation than wbac on my GTS

  11. I used them recently on my A45, they knocked me a couple of hundred for some stone chips and a marked alloy, which was fair enough.
Was easy to deal with, money in the bank quick and I got what I’d paid for it a year before and in line with their quote

all in all, very happy and stress free

  12. I bought the GTS as a daily driver but I’m beginning to feel that’s I’d be daft to put too many miles on it.

Now to convince the wife that I need another car 🤔

Woah, easy tiger!! The pops and bangs with the PSE are real, the sound isn't being generated through speakers, the car is actually making them so they're not fake they're just....... unnecessary! I certainly agree they're not a by-product of a highly tuned performance engine but rather just deliberately generated to enhance the driving experience, hence real but unnecessary. But then driving a 3.4 litre sports car on a twisty B-road at 6000rpm just for the fun of it is pretty unnecessary but we all seem to enjoy it! And there you have it - it's FUN and the PSE adds to that fun factor and that's its sole purpose. Some will think the added cost and extra moving parts that can and probably will go wrong isn't worth the hassle and some will. I fall into the camp that loves it and wouldn't be without it and you're in the camp that thinks it's a worthless silly item - and that's fine, don't get upset about it buddy.

Spot on and I have to say that I’ve owned 5 Porsche’s with PSE and they’ve all performed faultlessly. I would not buy one without as it adds to the experience especially with Sports Plus 🤪 brings out the hooligan teenager in me

  14. Nice looking car but way too much black for my liking, would be a killer to keep clean. Surprised to see sports chrono without pse.
steering wheel’s alcantara looks well used for 20k miles to my eyes also.

I know the market is hot right now but do feel that it’s 5-7k over priced

Sorry if this is clear from the thread and I missed it.  Are we saying the dynamic mounts fail more on GTS cars or are we just saying they fail on all cars with them and there are just more on GTS because it is standard equipment?

I’d say the latter, it’s just that it comes standard on the GTS as it comes with sports chrono.
