    Packaged bank account??

My nationwide flex plus covers car (with AA), mobile phones and travel insurance for £13 a month.

Nothing about car age in t&c’s and covers European travel, home start etc.

The bank account package might not be for everyone, but works out well for us for what it covers.

I know the bank I was with had an age limit of 16 years so it will depend on the bank and you'll need to check the terms :)

Not knocking A plan they used to do brother in law van and were very competitive , I tried when I first got boxster and they couldn't get me a competitive quote , you win some you lose some ,

Thank you for trying us though :) it's always worth checking again at renewal as insurers change their criteria and schemes all the time as well as developing new policy schemes available to us :)

    Me neither.

Just ran a quote for my CGTS, 6000 miles a year.  I’m a good boy,no points and just a windscreen claim in 2018.

Came in at the bargain price of £1800 😂😂😂.  Let’s just round it up to £2k shall we? 😀

Would you like us to take a look for you?

  4. As a broker we use 40+ insurers and their approved repairers, their terms etc all vary slightly as do their repairers - as I say, if you pm me your postcode (as I don't want you posting personal information publicly) I can find out who did the call, and listen to it if needed. All feedback is welcomed, as if the call wasn't satisfactory then we can highlight any areas for further training also.

We do usually say, for example with kit cars, I know some of these questions may not be fully relevant but we do have to ask them such as "how many doors" - now most kits have no doors, but occasionally people do fit doors. When asking if there's any mods a few do get missed off the list occasionally and the individual questions often prompt their memory. As an example, I've spoken to someone recently who forgot about the gearbox change and it was when I asked auto/manual they said, "oh auto, but it used to be manual, sorry can you add that to the mods list" - that's quite a big one to miss off. It just allows us to ensure that the cover we are offering is the right one for you and your car, and nothing is missed off for the insurers to query in a claim. Essentially, we are making sure that if something were to happen then we have the confidence that the information is fully correct. The registration doesn't always pull through the correct information in terms of engine size for example, and a soon as people hear the make and model they often just say "yep" before we've said the other details - this makes sure what we have on your policy documents is accurate. We've actually had NCB proof sent to us from other brokers/insurers which shows the vehicle details incorrect - so we've called the client to check it and it would turn out they've been insured with incorrect models, incorrect vehicle registration year and all sorts for years because they never took a thorough look at the documents (it happens).

Depending on the insurers quoted with, the windscreen approved repairer is likely to be either through National Windscreens who most insurers use or Auto Windscreens who some insurers use. A handful use other repairers such as Autoglass, but majority use National Windscreens.

  5. It is for compliance reasons and being regulated by the fca. We do have to ask them, seats for example some people do remove seats, we aren't allowed to presume or lead your answers. I'm actually a little surprised you weren't asked them elsewhere. Perhaps as we are an advised service and many are non advised.

Our insurers use genuine parts in their repairs, if you could pm me your postcode I will check who you spoke to. Did you definitely call Thatcham or was it a local branch?

    @A-Plan Insurance

My renewal is due in the next week, just tried to phone you but gave up after 5 mins holding.

    Can someone contact me?

DM me and I'll provide a contact number

    Thanks

EDIT - don't worry taken via Churchill, needed to get it done today due to other committments

Sorry I missed your message, I was in hospital with my little one so wasn't online. I see you got it sorted with Churchill now, we've had higher than expected call times this week but our hold times haven't really gone over 10 minutes tops.

Well, a year has gone by and I’ve just renewed again with A-Plan. Managed to shave a little from the renewal figure, and a little lower than 2019’s premium

A-Plan were very helpful and efficient, M*nn**gs still several hundred pounds more, and PCGB’ partner Locktons basically said no point the wasting my time going through all the info, they’d be many hundreds adrift of my renewal figure.

didnt bother calling AS Flux, couldn’t be bothered with their approach - basically whatever they offer/ quit is there and them, to get you to go for it. Bit of a hard sell, which I don’t like.

hoping A-Plan come in competitive on the macan insurance when that’s due in April.

Thanks! Hopefully we do well on the 2nd vehicle too as we do multi discounts 😁

We can quote up to 30 days before it's due 👍

Just had a great quote from A-plan, £279 fully comp with legal cover and £250 excess, thats for two of us to drive with 5k mileage.

My E-Sure renewal was £247 but the excess was £500 compulsory and £100 voluntary, Even though it a bit cheaper I loved the fact that A-plan answer their phone straight away, are very friendly and helpful and there is another means of communication via this forum.

All in all, two thumbs good from me, Im sure you'll be ensuring my Mini in a few weeks.

    Rog.

Thanks Rog, I'm glad we got it sorted!

    P.s. I have a mini... love it :D

    Gave up on A Plan.

Tried to insure my home, had a great service from my local office but she was bitten big time by Aviva. Then tried to insure the car, provided all information and was quoted ~£750 while my current insurer charges £440, when I mentioned it I was told that they refused to provide the classic cover as the car is too new (2005).

    Go figure.

    Hi Freeman

I see you chose your local office, the BoXa forum is looked after with club discount by the Thatcham Branch only as we have the facilities for low mileage/leisure vehicles, classic policies, modification cover, track insurance etc.

Can you pm me your name, post code and contact number so I can see which branch you dealt with and see if there's anything we can do here?

    Thanks

A thumbs up from me for A Plan. Spoke to a nice chap called Matthew. Very efficient and came up with a very reasonable £240 for my new 996.  Pretty good considering this is second car with no NCB.

Thanks! I'll pass on the thanks to Matthew 🙂 we mirror NCB so that will have helped 👍

Hi do A-plan provide normal policies which would allow it to be used as my main vehicle with street parking?

Unsure as I thought they were a classic policy only insurer (garaged only) etc.

    regards

    Harry

    Hi Hario!

As CMA replied, yes we do! We also do Van and Bike as well as Home and Landlords :)
