I can confirm what @red rocket says, the renovo blue appeared almost black in some lights and I was never really happy with it.
The scratch doctor product is a vast improvement, both in colour and texture, to my eyes anyway.

Look forward to hearing it Al. Are you coming on Sunday?
Just looking at the possibility now Peter. Hopefully I'll be there 👍

Fitted the Carnewal back-box as purchased from @MartynH a few weeks ago and took it for a quick run over the Marlborough downs. Raucous and smile-inducing
Also fitted a new number plate light unit as I broke one with my sausage fingers when removing the rear PU

Uninstalled my Stone Grey centre console and fitted a 'new' one painted body colour i.e. Atlas Grey. Went for stain lacquer so quite subtle, especially compared to bright primary colours.
Very happy with resukts. Going to put a more detailed write up in one of the console threads. Still considering whether to paint the dash trim in similar fashion.
Nice work Peter. Looks good 👍

Replaced both air-con condensers and the receiver drier. Then took it to the local Kwik-fit for re-gassing after asking if I could bring my booking for tomorrow afternoon forward to today.
Nice and icy now! 🥶

Had mine in to CPS today for a full service, MOT and 4 wheel alignment following the B6 struts being replaced a couple of weeks ago. Excellent service once again from @CotswoldPS and the car is feeling as good as I was hoping it would.
Also ran in to @F1HA who had been there most of the day with his lovely Black/Red interior 981S. Pleasure to meet you, and I'll be sure to tag you into a South Wales run once we get one organised

Swapped the rear struts out for B6s. Took longer than the fronts as expected, but less grief from the top nuts.
Now needs a proper alignment.
-
Thanks Matthew. It took longer than I'd have liked as the top nuts were seized and had to be persuaded loose with a cutting disc.
I'm hoping the rears don't put up as much of a fight. Wishful thinking? 🙄
-
Changed the front struts (assumed original) for Bilstein B6s. Will have a go at the rears tomorrow.

"A lift" was the exact phrase which sprung to my mind. Yes, I think it works. Just need an Alcantara Arm Rest with Porsche Emblem on it....
Any pics of your MIdnight Blue Console?

Probably a form of heresy posting a 986 interior on the 987 section, but hopefully you can see that?(I'm on my mobile) 😬

Gives the dark interior a lift imho. But then again I am a bit biased as I did the same in my 986 recently. Although midnight blue isn't as big a contrast as yours.
Nice!

Thanks. I think that's one of the ones I was looking at, but didn't want to spend £60 when I only needed the surround. The other I looked at (surround only) specified that it wouldn't work with the cup-holders.

I got a surround for my kenwood double din of eBay and works with cup holders
Don't suppose you have a link? I couldn't find one that would work with mine without buying the whole install kit

Nice work @Mark Lane, that looks very good👍. It's on my list of things to do (eventually) .
Today I turned this.....
into this.....
to fit this.....
I was fed up with the clunky Windows-based Xtrons unit that I'd fitted a few years ago, so went for the Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB having read good reviews both online and this forum.
Unfortunately the aluminium plate surround that I'd made and sprayed for the old unit didn't fit the Pioneer, so rather than buy the surround made for 986 which doesn't allow the use of the cup-holders, I decided to go DIY with some 10mm Perspex. Took a while to route it out this morning, but I wanted it to be a tight fit so that I don't need to use anything else to attach it.
Next up is the outer surround, which I'll probably do body-coloured to match the recently refurbished centre console.

It's amazing how much rubbish is in and around there. It's on my to do list, as well as cleaning behind the front bumper....procrastinating that one though as I think I know what I will find...damaged condensers!
Yeah it was like an insect mortuary in there!
If it were me and I suspected that my condensers might be shot, I'd be using the current down time to get them sorted. There are lots of threads on here to help with the 'How to' and 'Where to buy'. Let's face it, the next time you get to drive it properly you might be sat in traffic in 30 degree heat wishing your air-con was doing it's job. Just my two-penn'orth

Removed all the scuttle panel and under bonnet plastics. Cleaned out the area under the windscreen and polytrol'd all the plastic before replacing.
Nice to see it black again!

Thanks Al. The Hammerite is probably at least 20 years old (no sense wasting it!). You can tell things have changed as modern Hammerite thinners don't clean the brush. Good job i've got some acetone!
Thrifty!
Must get a run out when permitted 😎

Did I get the right impression that you DIY sprayed it? If so what was your process in terms of prep, prime, colour coat(s) and lacquer (if any)?
Yes I did. I was looking for the thread I'd seen that was similar to how I did mine, but @allatsea beat me to it.
The most time consuming part is the prep and removing the soft touch coating.

Interesting, looks good. I've toyed with doing this body colour console this but my car is Arctic Silver and like you I have the ash tray delete. Not sure how the black would work against the silver or do I get that painted too? however I do have to get the front bumper resprayed at some point. Unfortunately I don't have a spare console so it is a one time decision.
Thanks. I almost went with silver to match the gear nob and handbrake but got talked out of it by another forum member. I've seen a console in silver and like it a lot, really lifts the interior.

Had a couple of days off work waiting for materials to arrive at work so had a go at painting a spare centre console body colour (Nachtblau/Midnight Blue) that I've had in the garage for a couple of months. It doesn't actually look that different to the black soft-touch (scratched) plastic one I took out, but I think it looks smarter. Also replaced the CD storage module with a storage tray I scored on eBay.

You won't tell the difference in ARBs unless you are really leaning on the car.
Yes, that's what I've gathered from a fair bit of reading from various online sources. The main benefit I'm after is slightly less body roll without upsetting the front / rear balance too much. A bit less understeer would be nice though. I've not gone mental on the larger diameter, it's as close to M030 spec as I could get without paying the Porsche tax for genuine.
Hopefully I'll get chance to lean on them a bit once we get a bit of decent weather. If it's a backward step I'll swap them back to the originals, although they're a lovely shade of blue and I quite like them 😉
Onwards and upwards to a 981

Very nice Peter 👌 I look forward to seeing it at Lyn Valley. Although I might get snow blind with you, Rich and possibly Guvs in attendance.
