    Reader, I bought it😀

Many thanks to @Madlil who was a pleasure to deal with. Hope you’re enjoying the F type.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread as it was an exceptionally useful source of opinions and made the decision to go for this car very easy. First proper drive today and it feels like a great place to be. No idea how all the toys and buttons work yet, but I’ll get the hang of it eventually.

The only real departure from the general consensus here was that this did not have PSE, but given what it does have I wasn’t going to let that get in the way, particularly as it has the Carnwal GT exhaust which on first impressions I think I’m going to like. It probably helps that I’ve come from a 986 with a ToyoSport exhaust and manifolds, so I’ve done the noise thing. I can always retrofit if I change my mind.

    Excellent news. Congratulations Nobbie-Rob!

When you've worked it all out, please can I chase you in it? For old times sake....

    Cheers, Baggers.

  2. I've just ordered front & rear discs and pads for my 986S.

Mintex front discs, Pagid rear discs, Textar pads front & rear.

£187 delivered for the lot, from a combination of eBay, Halfords & tradevehicleparts.co.uk.

    Cheers, Baggers.

  3. It's an aftermarket 'Sport / Sport Plus' button, in relation to throttle map / behaviour. Nothing more, nothing less.

But folk who don't / haven't had Sport buttons in their Pork don't typically pipe up saying that Sport buttons are useless / inffective. Indeed some folk actually pay £big-bucks to have them retrofitted.

    As per the thread title....

How does one get a feel for the pricing of 718S cars?

For example, WBAC is saying  a value of £33k for that vs a ticket price of £42k

£9k difference seems like a lot... I get that dealers need to make a profit and there is a  cost for a warranty... But I guess something like a £5k differential between trade in and asking price would be reasonable... £9k is pretty steep.

It's also not just that orange car. Other cars are similar. E.g £8.5k differential... Okay that one has a 2 yrs OPC warranty, so that is worth say £2k.

Are dealers online valuations lowballing the value of the cars and are the online valuations reflective of what people are getting for their cars on trade in and is the differential between selling value and buying cost really £9k?

I sense this is the tide turning.

Lower values now reflected in WBAC and other valuations, but not yet reflected in retail asking prices.

Someone I know 'in the trade' who I saw briefly over Christmas said that CAP values have been coming down month-on-month since Oct/Nov (i.e. a reversal of the previous trend).

I've been watching 2017/18 BMW G31 (5-Series Touring) prices. They are softening slightly (not as much as I'd like - yet....).

  5. I've sold one car to Evans Halshaw.

Their model is dead simple: WBAC price, without their fees. They literally use the WBAC site to get the figure.

I managed to haggle them not charging a 'same day' (i.e. instant faster-payment) bank transfer.

I was surprised that the bandit (nice young Evans Halshaw man in an awful suit &.pointy shoes) only wanted to reverse my car out of its parking space, forwards c. ten meters, then reverse to park back up. "Don't you want to at least take it around the block or something?" "No, I just need to check that it will actually drive through the auction."

Overall I was very impressed. They did what it said on the tin.

But if you're like me and bought a boxster because its got a mid engined flat 6, and couldnt afford a cayman, then heated seats never even crossed my mind as a requirement!

    I am... Nor mine.

Struggling with these codes still, it's throwing some weird ones.

    Fuel - Okay

    Fuel Pump - Okay

Shift these codes and as soon as it cranks it throws them again. Thinking something along the lines of crank sensor maybe but want to get to the bottom of these codes first.

    Which codes?

    Cheers, Baggers.
